Re: [paulynn] Results from Court Case. [In reply to] Can't Post

Oops sorry! I thought Paco is one of the dogs belong to the lady. I thought Paco has been sent to SPCA together with the 16 dogs? Anyway, i read from newspapers that, one of the dogs (which belong to the lady) has PTS also due to serious illness. Is it true?

Since the case is already closed by the court, then we can't do much right now. Just wish that the lady can really treat her doggie well from now on. And you guys can on and off go to spot check her house. I will pray for all her poor doggie.

Re: [shlee, jolinG] Results from Court Case. [In reply to] Can't Post

shlee-Yes it's true. One of the dogs was being PTS because it was too weak to even stand up straight or walk at all. There were 16-1 dogs. The newspaper should've put 16-1 dogs instead of 15 dogs. They should let the public know what happened to the other 16th dog.

jolinG-Dunno,saw your name on the friendster that's why i thought that it was you or that you're going. If u aren't i'm sorry for the misconfusion ! :)

Hi Paulynn,

Yesterday i've done some brief research on our existing animal protection/welfare laws and did a write up to be posted on another tread here but *poof* my little piece of effort gone from the screen! wasted. maybe try again this evening, now have to get back to work. Btw, the inspiration to look things up came from the court case u were updating us. I couldn't get hold of the newspaper cutting on the case becoz donno where to get the sun and don read chinese :( any chance of u guys of posting the article up on this web?

Sorry for interupting but just would like to clarify that Selayang is in Selangor and under the care of Majlis Perbandaran Selayang (MPS). MPS doesn't have any ruling on how many dogs you owned and they do not issue licence for dog too. However, they do have dog catching unit.

I read the court decision in The Sun paper too. It is just to sad that the maximum fine is only RM200. That's wasn't fair compare to what the dogs have suffered. I believe this lady is a breeder as I always see puppies for sale advertisement situated in Selayang/Rawang in the newspaper. I do hope the government will imposed a stricter law and higher fine for animal abuse cases.

sorry my mom put back the article onto the pile of newspaper where i couldn't find it at all.Hm about the pts on eve,i'm not sure.Good effort but bad pc!! :) It's good to know that u did some research on it.Really appreciated that cos i needed to know more on it too! Saw a book on animal rights at Kinokuniya...but too $$ for me :) as i've paid about 80++ on a book on Animal Behaviour.Still aspire to be an animal behaviour specialist!

Yes, i heard that the lady is only fined for RM200 per dog, then plus some other expenses for SPCA, so end up for RM4000++. Sigh...i dun really care how much she needs to pay. Just wish after this fine, she can treat her doggie better, much better than before. Anyhow, i still believe that this lady is not a dog lover. She owns so many dogs, maybe just for breeding purposes and then making money from all the puppies she has. I also noticed that a dog seller, who is staying in Selayang to advertise for selling dogs. Don't know whether it is she or not...

I dun think M'sia dogs has right here. The book u saw maybe is for other country, right? Anyway, i think SPCA should know well about the dog welfare and right in M'sia. Maybe u can check with their consultant? Is there any consultant in SPCA? Is SPCA opened also during publich holiday, like New Year and CNY?

hi, it's open everyday. Not sure about major public holidays.Must ask them.Well as for the rights i'm sure it's about the same everywhere else in this world.Only thing that makes it different is how the government thinks of hte animals over here.Like other westerners, they are treated equally and given respect as well but here..i dun know :)

Hi Paulynn,

Finally, i manage to drop by at SPCA today. I met quite a lot of chinese volunteer there today. But i didn't introduce myself to them. I just went there for a visit only today.

I found out that SPCA environment is much better than PAWS. A lot of visitors and a lot of volunteer. Anyway, all the dogs is adorable and loving Smile

By the way, i saw some indian workers there. Are they the staff there? or also volunteer?

Don't worry Paulynn. Just take your rest. I understand how tired you are. Yes, you need a rest. There are other volunteers will take a good care of the dogs.

Take care and Happy New Year!

Re: [shlee] Results from Court Case. [In reply to] Can't Post

hey there....

I'm a newbie here....just to say, glad to hear there are lovely people around helping SPCA!

I respect and Look up to SPCA and wat they do!.

I use to go to PAWS years ago to help out.

But my whole thing about the Adoption went down the drain when i went over to SPCA bout 1 year ago to adopt a dog and.....

One fat yougn lady was at the counter...we were there bout 1 hr plus looking at a dog and my GF fell in love with one mixed breed small sized dog!!

so i owned my own house, and i love dogs...so i said wat the heck lets get it...he was so cute...i loved him the moment he was in my arms!

and we had to like wait at the counter for bout 10 minutes coz she was on the phone talking in tamil and some grandmother story was goin on!

i got real mad....and hit the table requiring service!....

she gave me that stare! oh yes....i wanted to just slap her on her face... but then i tot ....she is doin a good deed in helping out there!! but i'm sure she is paid too!....she wasnt a dog lover coz......she using her finger tips to touch the dog we took!....she took down all the particulars and i told her that i'm not married....its a single house...

and WAMP....she say....no way you gonna take that doggy back coz SPCA dun allow bachelors to adopt dogs....i told her...look her....i'm a true dog lover....i can pay for your full expense to come check my house every month to see how i'm treating my dog!!...

she didnt even say sorry....see cannot....i got so furious....walked out of there and never when there since!!

i adopted a puppy from PAWS and it died of distemper....i cried!! was a darn smart puppy!!

after that i took in ginger from my vet's friend....

and i've actually took in 2 stray dogs from the street.....both pups when i found them.....fed them and they remained at my place....faithfully!...

Wat can i say....the lady said dogs are given to family houses only!.... u never know...it could be killed too!!

I have 6 dogs now!! and other pets at home!!....i think that policy should chg!!!

wat can spca do? if at all they dare come snatch my dog from my house i will sure get this to the authorities!!

Hi Mafia,

From what you told me, i can feel that you are really a crazy dog lover! Like me...i got 5 dogs, but one of them is stolen about one month ago...FrownFrown

Yes, i always heard something about the staff bad attitude in SPCA. Some of the people has offered to be a volunteer through phone, but the staff who answered their call sounds rude. But PAWS staff is friendly and helpful. Anyway, i didn't experience it, I only heard this.

I'm not sure the indian staff in PAWS and SPCA is paid one or volunteer. But i feel that sometimes they are not patient enough also for new volunteer. Like yesterday, i saw one indian staff was not patient to 2 new volunteers for their questions. Maybe they are just too busy to answer them...

Don't give up! We cannot ignore all those poor doggie either from PAWS or SPCA, just because the bad experience you got before. The dog is innocent! But, it's surprisingly to hear that SPCA only allows married people to adopt a dog. It's a new thing to me!!!!! Maybe i will check it out during my next visit to SPCA. Or you can check it out with Paulynn, who is a regular volunteer in SPCA.

Hi, Hm.Missed u again in SPCA.Wasn't there like i said earlier in my previous msg. Those indian workers aren't volunteers. They work for SPCA and trust me, they work 110% better than us volunteers and they work round-the-clock.I volunteered once everyday for a week and saw the smae faces each day. They never seem to take a break or anything.Maybe once in a blue moon but they start work like 6am !! and stop at god knows what time as we have to leave the place at 5pm! They really work so hard for the animals and i do salute them more than anyone else there!

hi, Well i see that u settled down for a small party with your friends than squeezing around the crowd at any of the street parties too eh? Me and sis originally planned on attending one of the s/parties but when we heard bout the trip we decided to attend the latter one. U know when u canoe, if you don't balance your body on the center position the boat will go one side? That was what all of us felt when we had our shots."canoeing" all night long lol
