Hi Pam! I think the first thing you can do is to bring the pup to a vet when you've got it. This is to ensure that it gets the proper attention that it needs from young. From there, you can also ask the vet the breed of the pup and seek advice on taking care of it. Depending on the size of the dog that it will grow to later on, you can choose to leave it outdoor, just make sure you have a cage for the pup so it is caged at night and not wander away through the gate holes. If it's a small breed dog, you can also choose to leave it indoor. Prepare the pup a designated place for it to sleep, be it in a cage or a small room (with good ventilation). Just remember not to leave anything that you do not want the pup can bite/chew on (like shoes, newspapers, wire cables <-- this can be dangerous for the pup!). Oh, don't forget the pup needs to pee and poo too, so if it's not potty trained yet, it will be the right time to do so :) Be it indoor or outdoor, don't forget to leave a bowl of water easily accessible for the pup. As for the food, ask the previous owner what food has the pup been eating. A vet once told me that you should not change the dog's food drastically for fear that it may not eat them. You can always change it to a different brand later on but do it slowly. Well, I hope I didn't scare you away. It may not be as easy as it looks, but one thing's for sure, you'll enjoy every moment of it ;) You'll get the hang of things soon enough :) The forum here provides plenty of information, just browse around. Or do a google search on taking care of puppies. There's a lot of information out there. When in doubt, just visit the vet or any pet stores. Most of them will be willing to help you out :) Lastly, be prepared to be loved unconditionally by your new furkid! :D Cheers!
