My bullmastiff is the runt of the litter...though he is a pure bullmastiff, he looks a little like a pitbull and bullmastiff mix and has the body of one. He's only abt 24" and weighs abt 90lbs. ,-._,-. \/)"(\/ (_o_)
mr.dreamr...if u r refering to the pic on avatar as "runt of the litter", u gotta b kidding. she's gorgeous! wish i had one just like her. i just melt everytime i see their cute "i'm ever curious" face. i saw one few weeks back at spca ampang. very big. note read "already adopted". she's pure breed mastiff. i can't adopt even if available coz of her size. having said tat, if there's indeed a "runt of the litter" out there tat has the cute "i'm ever curious" face of a b/mastiff with small build, i wud b happy to have her.
I never own a mastiff but I've heard a lot of nice things 'bout them. I like BM the most. Considering of getting one for myself but not now. Just couldn't keep up with the commitment at the moment.

i has been looking for a bullmastiff or english mastiff for last 8 months. yet still can't find one i really like. as i mention in my last thread, i did found one near kepong,(but their shifted to another place) cost $3600 (which i think a bit out of budget) is it possible anyone of you guys can help me out with the problems of having a english mastiff? i know all the good things bout having it, but i guess as a responsible owner, i need to the bad things bout english mastiff too. i know its heavy, snores loughly, space needed due to its size.... is there and others "troubles"?
Check out the local paper and you should see some home bred ones but do beware of pet shops. Cost..... to be honest all pedigrees do not have a value but what the market thinks it is worth. Your best bet is ring up M.K.A. and ask for breeders around your area. They do not give out full addresses as such but will give you their contact and then you have to work from there.
I guess that you would spend a lot more on the food then the puppy could cost you.
English mastiff needs a lot of it and especially when growing. Getting quite naughty during adolescence and without proper socialization and training becoming more then a handful. They are very prone to bloat and CHD.
Personally, I do not encourage anyone without experience to get that breed.
Between the two breeds, I would advise to settle for a b/m, they are smaller, have less health issues, are easier to train and need less food.
thanks lad. will try to call them and see. i just doesn't feel save enough to buy from pet shops (so as back yard breeder) one of the reason why i didn't buy last time is because of my lack of knowledge of this breed. been doing quite some research bout it, but still feel not enough, seriously hoping that i can find help from this forum..thanks everyone for your reply.

CHD = Canine Hip DysplaciaEye problems and bloat are high risk too. If you are lucky, nothing shows up at your pet, but to be prepared to spend a lot more then for a smaller sized dog is advisable
My mastiff is on heat at the moment...and is now negotiating with a pure English mastiff for mating....if things work out then i will only mate... And if she can have...:)
