Re: [wibbly] How to teach my dog to swim?

Err...there's no way in teaching your dog to swim. Your dog's scared of the pool actually not so much of the water. Well, maybe the water too lah...So just decrease it just like Amanda said but down to her elbow level or even lower to her feet.

My Faith was scared of it too in the beginning until Amber jumped in, so she followed. What you could do is since you don't have another dog, you can jump in and carry her in too at the same time. Just fiddle and flick the water a little. If she tries to go out all the time, just keep pulling her back in. Sometimes gota force a little to make the dog not scared of it or used to it. That's how it works...

Also teach your dog how to get into the pool by herself. Show her the steps 1 & 2. Put her two front feet into the pool then carry her two back legs into the pool. Eventually after minutes, she'll learn the steps to get into the pool by herself. Also keep throwing her fav toy into the pool to encourage her to play in there. If she takes out the toy and steps out of the pool too, keep throwing the ball into the pool again to encourage her to go in again & again & again UNTIL there'll be a time when she'll never wana come out of the pool ever!

Oh and by the way, you take really beautiful pics of your poodle. Must have a good camera huh?
