hello Marcuss22, Big welcome!!! Female has a smaller size compare to male dog. Is your GSD female/ male? Another way is to measure how much gram per day you sbould feed at the weight. eg. 20KG = 350g... +/- depend on the exercise level. If your dog exercise ALOT, you need to feed more than the measurement well, sometimes it is also genetic. Like Trivor is rather small size than other Golden. No matter how much I feed...

Hi Marcus!
Welcome to the forum. Hope u enjoy it here.
Well, where did u get ur GSD? What bloodline is he from? It could be that his ancestors were smaller than the standard......or rather small...How big were his parents? How bout his other siblings? How old is he?
Becareful not to over feed ur GSD, bigger breeds tend to get bone/joint problems if they're fed too much in a short period of time (they'll end up growing too fast) Although not all bone/joint problems are caused by this, u can help by controlling his diet.

Hi Marcus, I have a small size female GSD too. Actually she is rather skinny compared to my male. But I think it is genetics. You have to look at the parents and from what bloodline. Usually good breeders will maintain the standard well but due to greedy breeders or puppy mills, they don't really care about the standard anymore they are just in it for the money. I am really not satisfied with mine, that's why you have to thouroughly check the parents and the bloodline, even reputable breeders can con you this days! In terms of what food to eat, I guess as long as the dog is eating healthily, there should be no problems, but bear in mind overfeeding will result in problems late on, like GSD's are prone to hip problems if they are too heavy.

ahahahaa........FINALLY!!!
Well if you have the time, try browsing. Or you can start a new thread under "General Dog Health & Care " or "Nutrition and Diet" and ask questions on the proper diet for Rocky.
If you go to "search" and type in Shih Tzu you will find A LOT of discussions about nutrition, care, grooming for Angel.
