yes, check with the.. please get it from a reputable breeder....

and also make sure that you are capable of owning a malamute... cos they need a very firm hand in training them... they eat alot..... shed their fur like mad... need to sleep in an air-cond room... .etc etc... please read more about them before getting one

Re: [suzen] hello to everyone [In reply to] Can't Post

Seriously if u ask me, i would say no to all 3.... husky, malamute and chow chow need cool enviroment... so unless you have alot of cash lying around to pay the air cond bill, then its ok la...

all i know about chow chow is they are quite prone to skin problems due to the fact that if its hot, they sweat alot and hence the skin problem..

as for huskies and malamutes, they need a very very firm hand to control them. and they would need a cool enviroment more then chow chows due to the fact that they have 2 layers of fur and this double layer of fur is made for harsh Alaskan weather which is very cold.

i'm not sure if you have had dogs before, but mix-breeds and mongrels makes as good a pet/companion as pedigrees. If you think that having a pedigree is cool or of standard, then please do not get one. this is due to the fact that the cost of maintaining the dog would be more then the cost of buying the dog. just think of the cost for grooming, medicine (vitamins, heartworm med, medication for hip, etc etc), food, etc etc.. that would easily cost you a bomb every month. mix-breeds or mongrels do have a higher immune system to illness... and there are some with short fur that you dont even need to bring them out for grooming. but then they still should be fed with proper and good kibbles instead of rice or leftover human food..

anyway, it is up to you to decide... Frown

Re: [suzen] hello to everyone [In reply to] Can't Post

its coolie... this is a work dog... which is used for herding sheep in UK/US... they are very intelligent and smart... i had the chance of getting to know one when i was in Europe... they can be quite a handful as they are very very active and they need loads of exercise... they can be quite cunning also.... try asking those who have this breed... maybe they can help..
