Hello, I have 3 dogs, a chocolate lab, lab mix and a border collie. Are there any one in here who do agility? I dont actually compete but do it for fun at home. My husband competes with our 2 dogs at AKC, NADAC and USDAA trials. Hope to talk to agility enthusiast soon.
Hi Cdmoo, thanks for the welcome. I am a Malaysia who moved to the State in June 1998. My first dog, Milo, is about 2 1/2 years old, Iris is about 2 years old and Gael is a year old. I have pictures of them on the website, www.jef-b.com/Dogs/.
Hi Milooh!! Welcome to this Forum!! I'm own 2 chihuahua, one JRT and one shitzu.. We all from Penang !! All say furkids say " HaLo" to u !! ~~~ AsHLeY ~~~
Since u r Msian.. ur username sounds like "Milo-O'. .. Milo without milk
Just kidding..
U got very nice pictures of Milo..I wish Rex can do the agility..Unfortunately, setting up equipment is a hassle..and too lazy also . Rex is 15mths now....is it a good time to start the agility? (especially the jump. Bone structure fully grown?).
Yes, my user name is milooh because I used to drink milo without milk in Malaysia. You can do agility with Rex so long as he does not do the jumps at full height. As a guide, the jumps should not be higher than his elbows. Have fun.
Hi ! I''m also new and hope that agility or other dog sports can be a major event in Malaysia. My dobe is also trained in aglilty..(just for fun) but may have forgotten it by now.. Do you know what's a reasonable area to train agility and where to get the equipments?
Hi mhazman, agility is pretty big in the U.S. and all over the world too. I am sure Malaysia will catch up soon. Sometimes we buy agility equipment from the trial, they are secondhand but cheaper. Also, the ones at the trial have been tested by the contestants and you can negotiate a good price with the builder if he or she is at the agility trial.
As for popularity of agility trials, I know that in California there are agility trials almost every weekend. I am located at Seattle, Washington and milo is going to compete in an AKC trial this sat and sun. Wish us luck and yeah, I will be videotaping the runs too.
Welcome to the forum! Glad you decided to join in and say hello! Agility is an exciting sport for both handler and doggie. I agree with you that it would be only a matter of time before this sport catches on. Just recently we had the chance to learn some agility tips from our Singaporean friends and together with our local MKA trainers..boy! did we have fun or what! Every doggie present had a field day! There is a thread with some photos in the event forum under Agility.. Do check it out!
All the best for your trails this weekend. BTW..how's the weather in the rain capital of the states..Seattle? I was there back in 1989. We used to wear this T-shirt that says..Seattle Rain Festival..Jan01st to Dec31St! Don't get me wrong..I love that place...
