Hi All

Freshie on this site. Came to know this site by chance. Was on the way home after 'makan', when I saw puppy.com.my sticker splattered across the back of a yellow Ford Ranger.(Ranger's owner must be an active member here-Thanks).

Anyway, my 2.5yrs old boy has developed an early affinity for canine, like I was. He is a bit too young to care for one now, so I plan to 'look-see-look-see' for a suitable candidate first. May be, by his third birthday, he'll has a puppy as present. Wouldn't that be nice?

I'm looking for a small dog to share a 1000sq.ft. flat. Preferably as cheeky as son, easy to train- unlike son :), and, hopefully not too noisy.

I just got my last Saturday at the Doggy Vacation. It is a very nice car sticker. They distributed it to those who wanted to go to the beach. Ask around, I think the Organizing Comittee of the Doggy Vacation had some more to spare.

well well... u can have many kind of small breed dog in 1000sqft apartment: terrier, mini pinc, chihuahua, shih tzu, maltese.... ( i'm having a chihuahua in 900 sq ft apartment).. it's all depend n wat kind of dog u like lor.... different dog have different characteristic n behaviour...... u want cheeky cheeky 1 ah? Jaz n lulugurl sure recommand SILKY TERRIER!!!!!!!rite? Wink

Name is Lim Chong Keng. My son's name is Kevin. We live in Bayan Baru. Will be moving to Vistaria in Sg. Ara by year end. No doggie experience whatsoever. Previous dog was a take-care-of-yourself mongrel, some 25 years ago. Will have to learn from scratch.

So this 'yellow lone ranger' is a big doggie joe in Penang eh?

A warm welcome to the forum. MKA stand for the Malaysia Kennel Association. It's URL is / You can also scan the toy breed segment in this web which provide some info pertaining to certain breeds and its behaviors. A pug might suit you best, small dog, little maintenance and always clowning around. We have lots of pug admirers here who called themselves as pug.

Another interesting portal to go is yahoo's sy.adiho.com/ASA/Controller?sysid=33&appid=9901 which ask questions to match the most suitable doggie for your family. Answer as much as possible to get the best answers. Though we don't have to follow all its advise, but find it very informative.

But remember, owning a dog is to commitment upfront about a decade or so of your dog lifespan which your initial excitement runs out about couple of months top. Got to have staying power and genuine love for doggie. Wink

Thank you all for the warm welcome and advises.

I went throught the dog breeds section and I think the beagle is interesting. There seems to be alot of beagle posts under the hound section of the forum. Will try to mingle with the crowd there.

Understand that Beagle is very active dog around. They are small and extremely cute. Saw a Beagle once in TV during the agility test. The guy seem to be flying around all the hurdles. Beagle need lots of exercise or they tend to zoom or zig zag around your apartment. Should be fun but you got to prepare for this mentally and physically. Crazy
