On 4-04-10 (Sunday) between 8.00am to 9.00am, a male Miniature Schnauzer (MS) went missing from his home at usj4, Subang. The owner Mr. Kong and family was away in Ipoh, MS named Jack Jack (JJ) was with their house maid that particular Sunday morning. After the maid realised JJ ran away from their backyard area through a gated back lane, she immediately called the owner, and made arrangement with his nephew to go over to his place to look for JJ... Kong and family cut short their trip and headed back home. The trail was a little confusing, feedback by the maid; JJ ran across the main road and headed towards usj2, so Kong’s nephew went straight and drove search that area. From morning until late afternoon, there was no sign or leads of the boy. Kong and family came home and took over the search until midnight but still no sign of JJ. It was a night they really want to forget. His son, Aaron did a posting of their missing dog at puppy.com on the 5-04-10 (Monday) at around 1.00pm. We check and verify on his status and from what we gathered on this profile, there were some misleading feedback on the information provided, especially for a MS to run across the main road (3 lanes on each side of the road). On our side we have little option but to bring in Jamie de Beagle to assist us though she has not fully recovered from an injury. Our intention was just to allow her to do light tracking coz there were no leads since missing except crossing over to usj2. We assembled at Kong’s place that evening at 7.30pm, and we manage to form 3 search team; usj3 & 4 for a start along with 1000 pcs flyers black and white and distribution on a door to door basis. As usual for Jamie, picked up JJ’s scent from home…and we started from the back lane and through the gated area…that’s the starting point and she lead us to the side walk along the main road through some hawker stalls, this area has a petrol station and a row of shops with 7-Eleven around the corner. The trail kept circulating within the walk way and few rows of houses front and back (similar tracking to Happy de Shih Tzu at Happy Garden). We head back for a short break with Kong at his place… the other team were doing door to door at usj3 and 4. As for us, we discuss on the possibilities and options surrounding the information given earlier… dog ran across the main road headed towards usj2, it wasn’t really our call but we decided to give a shot. We took Jamie across the street and venture towards the housing areas. After a few runs, she lost interest but since there were guard post around, we check in with them hoping to get some leads. Around 11.00pm, got a message from a team member that stays at ujs3, saying not possible for JJ to go across, since we have few flyers in hand… finished off and head back, by then another team member already finish designing the standardize missing profile on JJ. The other search team already finished off the flyers… search was called off at 12.00am. Next day 6-04-10 (Tuesday), another team member sms us, saying a posting at usj web forum; found a schnauzer at ujs4 on the 4-04-10 (Sunday), that’s the day JJ went missing. Cross check with Aaron and he immediately informed his parents about this. HOPE is in the air. Trouble is that, the forum requires a existing member to reply or do posting and for new registration, approval will be within a day. He manages to get his mother’s friend who is a member and by 4.00pm, a replied post was up. During that period, Aaron’s mom went along Taipan area to ask around at pet shops and vets. The pet shop owner had a regular customer that came and passed on his contact coz he had found a MS and when Mrs. Kong enquire and showed them the picture of JJ… contact number was obtained and she called the person (founder Mr.Lim) from the shop. Arrangement to email all relevant information on JJ to Mr.Lim was made. By 5.30pm we received feedback from founder through Mrs.Kong; the dog is in good hands but at Puchong, 8.00pm to meet up at usj and he will direct them there... HAPPY HOUR At 10.05pm 6-04-10 (Tuesday) received updates from Aaron…. GOOD NEWS. WE HAVE FOUND JACK JACK! it was him, Cheers! …. A Good Samaritan picked JJ up from 7-Eleven usj4 on Sunday morning (between 9.30am to 10.00am - the day the boy ran out). He even showered him before pass to his friend who stays in Puchong coz he already have furry kids with him. Mr. Lim went the extra mile by posting the findings over at usj web forum and left his contact to the pet shop. We would like to thank the following people for participating in the search for Jack Jack: Mr.Lim (Founder of JJ), Mr.& Mrs. Chong (Temporary Fosterer of JJ) Manfer, Jasmine, Jonathan, Jason, May Ting, Jill, Chew, Mr.& Mrs.Heng, Sally Tan, Marianne, Luke, Chris, Adeline, Aaron, Jenny, Rayson….and Jamie de Beagle.
