SHOCKING News 2day : Boy, nine, mauled by dog undergoes eight-hour surgery Can't Post

Bad news for dog owners....

this would definitely set us (responsible dog owners) back in our effort to educated public that there is a bunch of dog owners who cares and who is responsible. Reminds me of the long ago case - Le-roc.

I'm sure the MP's would want to again tightened the rules of owning a dog in our premises....

Sometimes its sad, knowing that there is all the irresponsible ppl around us.

Boy, nine, mauled by dog undergoes eight-hour surgery

PUTRAJAYA: A nine-year-old boy had to undergo an eight-hour long surgical operation after he was mauled by a large dog, believed to be a Rottweiler, near his house in Taman Putra Perdana, Puchong, on Friday.

Mohd Hazman Khan Sheikh Zaini received some 140 stitches to his head and another 40 to his body.

According to his mother, who declined to be named, Mohd Hazman was walking to a nearby mosque with his two cousins for Friday prayers when the incident occurred.

“He was walking near a neighbour’s house when the dog pounced on him. His cousins ran back and alerted me. I rushed to the scene to find him being mauled by the dog.

“I threw stones at the dog but it then tried to bite me. Another neighbour had to beat it off with a stick,” she said here yesterday.

The boy was rushed by his parents to the Putrajaya Hospital to get treatment for his injuries, including lacerations and bite marks on the right side of his face. His condition has now stabilised.

The dog's owner was believed

to have been out during the incident.

Mohd Hazman’s mother said the owner had come to their house and apologised to them over the incident.

A police report has been lodged.

Aww... poor boy!Pirate Summore it is a Malay boy! poor thing!

Some dogs gets too fierce... I've had a German Sherpard which was also TOO fierce.. Daddy got it back when it was already an adult. Bobby was its name. Bobby was very nice and smart looking, and Dad thought it would be perfect as a guard dog. But not long after that, 1 Sunday afternoon I was at my house and wanted to walk out to my garden and Bobby was there tied after bath, and he jump and the chain got loose and it hopped and attacked me and bite me! I was still a kid, primary school and mummy who was also in the garden got panic! I shouted in pain and was in shocked as everything happened just so fast!

Dad then tried to send Bobby to a trainer for obedience training but it ended up attacking the trainer as well. The trainer then get to know that Bobby was a dog trained since young to be a guard dog, or security dog... but it got out of control and became too fierce that the person who trained bobby gotta get rid of him cuz bobby is no longer suitable to be use for work since it is too fierce! pfftttttMad

There are some dogs which is like that.. Owners, who especially has fierce doggies should always remember to make sure that their gates are locked, so that the doggie wont run out and attack the innocents...

I think EVERYONE would give us those stares when we walk anywhere near with our dogs. Remember last time the le-roc case ? causes so much problem for other dog owners and also those MPXX to limit dogs in a compound n etc. I hope things like that wont happen lor.....

But then sometimes MPXX got no choice but to take this kinda action... like my opposite house neightbours who has a lot of those mongrels.. I am a dog lover and I am not against people keeping mongrels and only support pure breed... I myself do keep mongrels last time! It is just that my neighbour used to have this very fierce mongrel and will always change and growl at people and wanna bite! Then there was once when this insane owner did not close the gate and this doggie just rushed out from the house when it saw my mum going outside to put the rubbish in the rubbish can Mad

Then my mum got shocked when she bend down to put the rubbish , and the doggie came running barking at growling like trying to bite her and mum shouted.. I rushed out and pull mum inside and the doggie was still there looking so fierce and got saliva drooling like a mad dog MadMad Mummy fainted and I gotta bring mum in the porch where we have a picnic table there for mummy to sit..

The owner did not feel guilty yet shouted at us, saying dog not yet bite so why are we shouting! Pirate pfffttttt! How inconsiderate!

The same thing happened to me just last week but luckily I did not suffer any serious injury. My neighbour also open her gate and let her 3 dogs (1GSD and 2 big mongrel) running loose to relieve themselves. Then when I walked my ECS, the 3 dogs charged at us and bitten my ECS. I carried my ECS and wanna run but was surrounded by the 3 dogs and they bite me instead-twice Pirate. The owner din even apologise and still doing the same thing every morning Mad Mad Mad.

Re: [carienna] SHOCKING News 2day : Boy, nine, mauled by dog undergoes eight-hour surgery [In reply to] Can't Post

Stupid, stupid owner. I've had nearly the same experience of my own... My dog was bitten by a rottie which came out of a neighbour's house. The dog just came charging at my puny little dog and grabbed him by the head and flung my doggie around. I was kicking and whacking the rottie w/o any effect.

Thankfully the rottie din turn to attack me. Otherwise, the owner will be in deep poo. Neway, after a while, the rottie let go and my dog managed to run back to my house quickly enuf w/o being attacked further.

However, the damage was done. There were 4 teeth holes near the neck. Thankfully no blood vessels were torn. Went to the vet asap and got my doggie stitched. I called Kawalan Anjing the very next day and they came to "talk" to the owner. I've seen the rottie out and 2 times after that.

So when I take my dog out now, I'll drive him outside to avoid the house. It's a bit more troublesome, but well worth the trouble.

I'm sure a lot of folks here seen their neighbours letting their dogs go out at night to relive themselves. There are lots of them here where I'm staying (Sri Petaling BTW).

There's once where I was in the padang and this owner let his dog (cocker spaniel, small breed) run around freely. I was at the outskirt of the padang and the dog started to charge at my dog. I asked the owner to leash his dog and he said:

"Aiyoh, don't worry lah, play play only. If you want to whack my dog, whack lah. Then he'll learn lah. Die also nemind, I got a few more at home."

I was just speechless after that....

Uwah pity ur doggie!

Should whack the owner and not the doggie.. and you need to only whack 1 owner.. instead of whacking more than 1 doggies (since he still got some at home!) hahaha! Whack the owner and you solve the problem!

I thought he was bitten by 4 GSD ( as in NST today). Anyway I wish to pen my thoughts in this matter as I have a GSD. Normally they are ok but socialising is important. Does the owner always chain the dog. GSD need lots of exercise as they are active dogs. If the owner chain the GSD day in day out, the dog might get 'gila' (Imagine someone chain you 24 hours a day). Also when taken for walks, need to put them on a leash to observe whether they are aggreasive or not. Even then I don't let my GSD out as I have a small garden for him to run around. Dangerous as you might not know what will trigger an attack. Eg : other boys throw stone at the dog, chase him, lastik, etc. We don't know the whole story yet. Pity the boy. Really hope he recovers quickly. Also hope the father will sue the irresponsible dog owner. need to teach him a lesson.

Really sad about this matter as we have such dog owners who give other dog owners a bad name. next time when I take my GSD out for walks, other people will run lah.

yep..it was a sad incident
But i believe no matter how aggressive is a dog, it need something to trigger him/her to attack a human.
The question, did the boy did anything suspicious that cause the dog to attack.
I always advise my friend, never walk with a stick cuz it might mislead the dog that you want to attack him, instead walk calmly and confidence when you near any dog.
It take two hand to clap together to make a sound. I hope that this is a lesson and hopefully we can hear the side story of the boy.
This is definitely going to be bad for us as a dog owner.
As a start now, we have to be more careful with our do, make sure they are chain and lock carefully when we are not around. This might sound cruel but at least it is better than have our dogs to be put to sleep

Well, there is dog owners and there is dog owners. There is all kind. Some owners does not realise socialization of a pet dog is very important. The less a dog is socialize with the outside world with other dogs around the worst they get.

Luckily your mum is ok :)

Hi !

Fully agrees with what you have written. Dogs developed their behaviour due to their enviroment in which they grow up in. Lack of socialization = aggressive. Without proper exercise = turn destructive. All these is all due to the owner. An owner who does not understand its dog is the type that causes all these behaviour.

Yes I think the dog is a GSD ... not sure though as The Star is very brief on this news. Saw the boy's picture in Malay Mail though... poor thing ! Yes those owner who is so irresponsible needs to be taught a lesson. Somehow, in a way.... we cannot blame MPXX when dog owner also is not being considerate, understand and RESPONSIBLE.

HI Chan,

Yes the boy MIGHT have provoke the dog BUT on the other hand, don't you think the dog shd be properly chained, caged or fenced up in the house and not running /roaming abt unattended ? think about that too.

Yes it takes 2 hands to clap but we are talking abt 2 individual with brains (no matter how small it is for a dog) and when provoke they will react. This is true.

BUT as owner .... we have to know our dog. Being a responsibile owner is not only towards your own dogs but to the surrounding people/area and incident as well. If the owner take some time, to fenced up his compound, chain up the dog, caged up the dog or even put the dog inside the house then it helps in eliminating things like the dog ran away n etc happened.

yep agree too..
that why i think that the owner must fully respossible for his/her dog act.. Any the way a dog is still a beast and they can be unpredictable some time.
It was sad incident.
The dog shouldnt be euthanize but send them to rehab just like in US have they dog to be check for behavior and attitude disorder of any.
Can we write to the authority about this suggestion instead to have more dogs to be euthanize instead give them a second chance...

until the truth is established, its hard to say whether its whose fault.

but in both cases, hopefully the kid did not provoke the dog(s) by throwing stones or teasing them.

on the other hand the owner shd have exercised his civic duty and some common sense to ensure that the dogs were not loose on their own. at least he shd have locked his gates properly or ensured that teh dogs were leashed or something when they went out. and the dogs even if provoked shd not have a "reasonable" opportunity to escape.

i would hope that the excuse is not that the "the maid let them out"...the all too common thing that i hear...ppl blaming their maids etc.

we as dog owners must be responsible for our dogs actions and consequences.

No matter what the circumstances, the dog(s) should not have been out of their house compound and the owners should be responsible for that.
