hello,Smile

The injections are probably vaccinations. You can go to a vet to get the vaccinations.

As for the details, you could do some research on the topi or wait for the others to answer. Sorry I cant help you out here..

get a 'yellow pages' and look up which vet clinic is the nearest to you. or you can ask your friend to recommend his vet you.

ya, there is 3 injection. once you bring your dog to the vet, the doctor will give the vaccination.
if you want more knowledge about it, ask the doctor what type of vaccination did he gave your dog.
usually is distemper virus, parvo virus.......

then you will receive a vaccination certificate for your dog. and after one month time, bring your dog for the 2nd injection and then 1 month later the 3rd injection.

Best to get it done. It's not very costly (jabs + consultation) usually is around less than RM100. Probably around the RM50-70 range, depending on which one you choose. 7-in-1 is of course more expensive than 6-in-1, but something like RM10-15 more. Not very costly. So you may want to give him/her 7-in-1. Ask your vet to recommend. Look at this way. If you don't give him/her the jabs and later he/she develops (**touchwood**) distemper, and undetected until later stages, chances of survival from that is almost next to none.

After the 3 jabs, it's an annual booster.

For immunity against heartworms, something like 'Heartgard' (chewy-type, from RM58 onwards for a pack of six, depending on dog size) or 'Interceptor' (price unknown, tablet-type), it's a once-a-month affair. Don't worry, it's not an injection, either Heartgard or Interceptor, you can feed it to the dog yourself.

For immunity against other worms, something like all wormers (tablet, chewy, etc), you can give it to the dog ranging from 1 per three months, 1/quarter, 1/half-year depending how much socialisation does your dog have. Again this depends on the brand and type of the all wormers, consult your vet for full details on all of these. These notes (above) serve as a guide for you to find out more.

Search on the Internet and this forum, there are plenty of advice around. Best person to consult is still YOUR VET.

Re: [sara] injection [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi sara,

here's my one cent worth of opinion, if it may be of one Smile:

From what i understand, it's not advisable to give the all in one jab.

Vaccination against parvo and distemper should not be administered together. What one of my vet told me is that, the first jab usually involved parvo vaccination. the second one distemper. third jab will include other necessary diseases.

A truly responsible practitioner and/or owner would go to the extreme to check the titre of the antibody against diseases vaccinated. if the body response to the vaccination well, thus having a high titre. But i doubt any companies in malaysia bring in such diagnostic kits, unless the labs have them.

This is to check whether booster jab is required. certain diseases do not need booster jab, as it's merely re-introducing attenuated micro-organisms into the body of a healthy and strong dog, thus weakening it's system temporarily. During this period, the dog may or may not be susceptible to infection of other diseases.

I'm just quoting what i studied / read b4. Do not have to take it too seriously or take it as the whole truth, just precautions.

have a nice day and good time with ur rottie.

Re: [sara] injection [In reply to] Can't Post

hi sara,

yes, pls do. at least vaccinate against parvo n distemper. the two deadliest disease. but make sure both vaccination are not done together. make it parvo being the first jab, and distemper being second. but anyhow, check with the vet. i'm no vet, just an owner with some knowledge. always get second opinions.
