Has anyone heard of this new breed - the Labradoodle? saw it somewhere... supposed to be developed from a cross between the lab and the poodle, but the temperament's so good and consistent they are using these dogs as blind dogs.
Yah i've heard of this breed....in fact there seems to be a lot of mixed breed with poodles....apparently frm what i've read ppl like to cross with poodles because poodles are supposed to be very intelligent dogs and they do not shed....here's a pic of Labradoodle ....there are lots of other poodle cross dogs around.
More pics of mixed breed can be seen in www.dogbreedinfo.com ....there's a pic there on goldie x poodle....all very shaggy looking....good site which explains in detail of the breed std, temperament, genetic health etc. of various breeds.
it seem like poodle than labbie. Is first time i heard of this. Will check out the url mentioned.

Just to add a bit more ... when people started to out-cross the two breeds ... they are actually hope to gain the drives back that's long lost in the confirmation ring ....
Poodle & Lab have being known well over their sence, retrieve and hunt drives ... but today, sad to say that a lot of confirmation lineage don't carried enough of these drives ...
Some working breeder is hoping to produce some high drives off-spring by crossing these two so that the world still have service dog around!!!
This proved that a quality breeding is done based on genetic studies!!! LEO PUI Get REAL, Train REAL & Be REAL! Do RIGHT and FEAR No One!
There is another mix breed which is quite interesting....Cockapoo. A mix between American Cocker Spaniel and Poodle. Apparently in America they do have a club for this breed, Cookapoo Club of America.
I do have a pix for cockapoo but do not know how to put it here.

WAAAH....very cute but....if i have one, then i'll also need to buy industrial dryer, bigger comb (maybe a rake), then after that comb and comb and comb until my hands fall off !!!! But it's really cut..but needs a better name though !
It never fails to amaze me how breeders can come up with such "original" names ... My pup is a cockapoo mix terrier, lol. A real rojak... You can't see any resemblance to her poodle bloodlines - the first thing that comes to mind when you see her is "CockerSpaniel" and "Terrier".
Since I *still* haven't figured out how to use attatchments, and Angelfire refuses to let pictures load on other websites, I'll hafta type a link to her picture.

He's such a darling! You know...i can't help but wonder what type of terrier he has in him....looks a bit like a JRT type heheh ....does the coat hv a rough feel to it? Definately very adorable indeed.
Thanks for the comments She's a bit bigger now - I took pictures yesterday, and I can't wait to develop them. Her coat is actually quite smooth. It's a bit wiry around her muzzle, I think it's definitely the Terrier in her showing through Her mum looked like one of those white terriers...
It's my belief that labradoodles were bred by Guide Dogs for the Blind so that people who are allergic to dog hair could benefit by having a guide dog too. That's why the labrador, which is the 'standard' guide dog for the blind and the poodle for the wool. Unfortunately, when they are bred there is no guarantee that the puppies will all have wool, so not all of them make it as hypoallergenic guide dogs.
Lots of people, like me and my daughter adore dogs but are allergic to them. That's the main reason why we bought our Bichon Frise, like poodles they have wool instead of fur and don't shed or cause allergic reactions. Of course now I have these darlings I also realise what wonderful companion dogs they are too, like most toys I guess.
