Car Ride Can't Post

i always bring my dogs along using crates while i drive to some place. yesterday, i simply let them hop in my car and drive a short trip around the house.

Goldy was a bit nervous and sticked tight on the front left sit. but Beauty was so happy. she was at the sit behind and keep on walking from one end to the other and put her front paws on the mirror and stare out (window is shut). then this naughty (Beauty) tried to come in front and she blocked my hand from reaching the gear! i have to shoo her away back to the back sit. Tongue

when we reach home, she just hopped down without second thought and Goldy was like "WAH! so high, how can i jump down ah!?" and later the two fella hopped back into the car and investigated for about 5 minutes before i forced them to come down.

so, from that i realised that my girl is more brave than my boy.

hope they can use to it soon and i'll need not to use crate anymore when i bring them out.

Re: [makrawl] Car Ride [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi makrawl,

I bring Salsa out for drives occasionally and I have never put her in a crate. She basically just sleeps on my lap, it is only when she is really uncomfortable, then only will she lay at the passenger seat. HOwever, most of the time when I slow down my car at traffic lights, she would look up and stand to sibuk sibuk.. hhehe.e. I think she likes lights... but it can be quite dangerous when you have all of them in the car, because they might disturb you when you are driving. Also, if you are driving a manual, make sure not to jerk the car too much, or brake the car too fast, because our little ones can fall, or may vomit. SERIOUS!!! She puked on me a couple of times when I was driving the manual.. also because I am a lousy driver lar.. but when I drive the auto, she is ok. Am concern when police check, don't know will kena saman or not lar..

Anyway, for your boy who still seems afraid, it will definitely take time... be patient! Smile

SmileHi,

I normally take my pom for a ride almost 5 times a week n he loves it....without the crate. Though it might be dangerous but guess he's just used to it. My lab on another hand just hop in the car but she always like to squeeze with my pom on the front seat. She'll jump up n down but i need to raise my voice to keep her sittingUnsure.

Both of tehm knows how to hop down the car but my pom needs help to jump up the seatSmile

Re: [Gwinn and nathalie] Car Ride [In reply to] Can't Post

yeah, it is dangerous especially when they r excited. some more me one against two. i know they love car ride but i got no time to do it often.

fortunately my dog never feel dizzy and they r "car dog" since the first day they come home.

by the way, i'm driving a FORD 4 wheel drive. and goldy still need me to lift him up but beauty just hop up like a spring. maybe goldy is very fat gua? but i realised beauty really can jump. i'm 182cm, and a dog with just 1++ feet high, she can jump up till she touches my elbow! maybe i shall call her bouncy instead of beauty. :)

Hi mak,

no wonder goldy has difficulty!! NOt all dogs dare or have a love for jumping, and it is not that they can't either... put her in a life threatening situation, damn right she will jump!!

You sound like a very busy person, do make time to spend with them... it's important.

Smilewah,

cool, u r so tall.....but mostly cockers r quite active aren't they?.....same like my doggies, i drive an auto car n they'll jump up n down till they swift the gear.....

my poms sit quite well in the car but the lab is the teruk one...she'll jump from her back seat to the front seat till it squeezed my poor pom n they always fight. The pom belongs to me but the lab is my frined's coz he's abroad... over all they love car rides...normally when i'm just going out to nearby places i'll take them along. I have to park my car outside coz if i open the door, they'll curi-curi masuk especially the lab without my knowledgeUnsure

Re: [makrawl] Car Ride [In reply to] Can't Post

Furbie enjoys car rides too. He somehow knows when I'm going out. The moment I say "let's go" he's all alert and ready to go out. We had to be very careful not to say the magic word but now he even understands the magic word in hokkien (kia)!!

I usually leave him in the back seat cause he wants to sit on my lap while I'm driving if he's in front! Perhaps he wants to help me drive? We usually go from mainland to Penang island, so he stands half of the way and just lies down some of the way, but when I'm reaching the destination, he somehow knows. Gets all excited.

But I haave heard of dogs that get car-sick. Cannot take winding roads. Poor things.

Re: [makrawl] Car Ride [In reply to] Can't Post

I have not tried this before, bring my danes for a ride. The reason is I am driving a Wira and I find it too small to fit my dane in. You know lar..Wira car very small one. They might not feel comfortable at the back seat. Due to this, I hardly participate in any of the gatherings. Would anyone suggest on how to bring a large breed dog for a ride in a Wira car?????

Have a Great Day.

yeah, that's why whenever i'm home, almost all the time i spend in the house is with them. i seldom go out during weekend as i'm always out during weekdays. but my mother is in the house all the time so, they r not alone. but just a bit boring (but they can play with each other) as my mother doesn't play with dogs.

I haven't tried taking Mocha around in the car without her crate. I am still unsure wheather or not she will be jumping and running all over the car when I am driving. That's really dangerous you know. I think she can only travel without her crate if there is someone else holding/controlling her in the car. At least then I won't have to always lookout for her and instead concentrate on driving ! Crazy

Hi, Angie,

Yeah, Bobo does understand some magic word like 'go' or 'kia'(hokkien). He will be at the front door when he sees me taking my car key.

I put her at the passenger seat, and he is so excited to see the world, he will stand by the mirror until he has got tired, he likes to do his ACTION movie also --> he will try to climb up to the dashboard, if he managed to climb up, he will rest on the dashboard, and he looks like a fake shih tzu tissue box Laugh. I will need to slow down my speed.

I talked to my boss dont be so naughty and he did not bother me!! so I already banned him to climb up to dashboard. Smile

Hello Ellie,

Furbie really likes car rides, but I dare not drive with him in fthe front pessanger seat cause he wants to help me drive!! So I leave him in the backseat where he can walk up and down with no one to step on and have the view from noth windows!!

One thing tho, have to make sure my windows are locked cause he once wind down the window by mistake and he got so excited cause he could stick his head out, but I panicked like crazy. Lucky we were in the housing estate and he didn't jump out!! Phew...that was a big scare

this is the finding of my doggie's car ride:

1. open the door ==> get excited

2. jump in the car ==> more excited

3. close the door ==> game just started. jump up and down, his paws all over my body.....

4. Show Rotan to him ==> too excited, he thinks I m going to play fighting with him

5. Owner pengsan liao..

Have a Great Day.
