Grooming Classes Can't Post

Hello to all out there. I would like to make enquires if there are classes available in Penang/Ipoh/KL area. I've began to take a more serious view about showing my dog after her unexpected good fortune at the most recent MKA show in Penang on 5/5/02. I've decided to learn-up the tools of the trade. Mine you, I'm not interested in making a living from this profession but rather improve my knowledge on my specific breed i.e. [b]Mini Schnuazer[/b]. I've been browsing on the Web and manage to find 2 "school" in Singapore. However, I heard that in KL there one such school run by a Japanese organisation, unfortunately spending RM10K just not my bowl of rice (or char koay teow, here in Penang). I do appreciate any advise from the "guru's" out there.

Who may you be agd? Angel? God? or Dog?
First you please make an introduction, then we talk.
If you were at the just concluded MKA Championship Dog Show, held at the Dome and showing a Mini Schnauzer, you are also a MKA member. Am I right? coz I was there and have been showing dogs since 1964.
What you required, I can put you on the right track, provided we know who we are talking to.
Regards.

Hi Derrick. I did write-up an introduction. However before posting the intro, I went into "Who's Online" and now I can't seem to be able to find my intro. Can you please advise? By the way AGD is just my initials, please call me Aloy. If you could help me to find and post the intro I wrote more will be reveal. Thanks

Re: [agd] Grooming Classes [In reply to] Can't Post

Its very simple agd. You come into the Forum and in No.3, you will see 'Members' Introduction' Click it and you will see 'post new' Click post new and you are there. After finishing your post, you just make use of the normal procedure like what you had posted, and your introduction will appear.
I don't think I could help you to find your introduction. You will have to do a fresh one. OK?
In your introduction, we would apprecaite your name, age, girl/boy. student/working. which place are you staying( PJ, Subang, KL or Ipoh or Johore) As you are interested to learn about grooming, no point telling you PJ has a place where you can learn about grooming but you are marooned on an island. So you see all these information are important if you want a member of puppycom to help.
Regards.

Re: [Derrickok] Grooming Classes [In reply to] Can't Post

Hello "Dog People" out there. I've posted the necessary introduction in the said forum and for those who would like to know who I am, please check it out!

Derrick, to answer your questions, yes I was at the recent show in Penang and yes I'm also a MKA member (very new only joined in Nov'01). I was very privillege to have Mr. B and Mr. M to handle my dog at the show. My Schnauzer was from a litter from Mr. B's sire and Mr. M's dame. Both are Malaysian Champion. So Derrick, I'm sure you know who they are.

As I've mentioned earlier, I'm seriously looking to learn Show grooming specifically for Mini Schnauzer only, therefore if I have to travel (up or down), I'm prepared to make the commitment. We begineers must take more initiative. Also I would need to buy the grooming equipment. I hope to be able to meet up with a professional groomer to get advice on the necessary equipment to acquire. Although I do have a couple books on my breed, the finer points can only be pass down from hands-on experience.

To members out there, maybe you can advice me where I could get video's on grooming my specific breed or even specific grooming books only. I saw one at a Grooming Shop, but was told that she got iher copy in Australia when she attended a formal training class over there. Sifu's, Guru's I need you advice!!!

Regards,

Aloy

Smile I aw your post. I am eager to learn dog grooming. It seems Dog grooming class is not well-known in Malaysia. As far as I know, there is aIbraraki Aiken Pet Grooming Academy. As you are a professional, please advice is there any other choice of Grooming Academy?

Ivan
I am wondering whether what should I do if my shih tzu's fur is dry and in need of moisturizing?

I heard that we need to bath shih tzu...long coat furkids at least once a week due to that they did not shed much they tend to collect dirt on their skins. Is it true? Will it not strip of the oil coat? Please advice.
Regards
Lisa

hi lisa,

well well well..for long hair coats is ok to bathe them once a week but if your dog stays indoor all the time and doesnt get dirty then u dont have to. some shis tzu only get a bath once every two weeks. it all depends on individual as some dogs really gets very dirty..u will know when your dog need a bath...ehhee...they do smell..ahha..well to keep your shih tzu clean of coz u must keep your house clean first. brush your dog everyday. it would be better you could brush him twice a day...give him a good brush and u will find he will stay clean longer and look good too. or you could purchased grooming powder from the petshops..it's useful when the dog gets wet a bit or only certain parts of the dog is dirty then u just apply to it and brush it out. it;'s something like a dry bath. well if need more advice or there's still question mark in my answer then please post again.

The problem is his fur around the chest & under his chin which is white color now turn yellowish not matter how many times I bath him with whitenning shampoo. I bath him 2 or 1 time a week. Please advise how to get his fur to be white again. thanks.

Re: [Jimmy0216] Grooming Classes [In reply to] Can't Post

hi there jimmy..

hmm..well well..one thing you have to bear in mind that shih tzu doesnt have a pure white coat like a poodle or maltese..
shih tzu hair no matter what they still have a bit of yellowish present..so u will not get a poor white shih tzu..
the more you bathe doesnt mean the whiter the dog will be.i dont know what your steps like when bathing your dog but one important part is always make sure your dogs is dried up well..u could use a hairdryer to dry your dog and make sure it is thouroughly dry..dont let the dog romp around when it is half dried..
another thing is try not to let you dog get wet too often..u know some dogs they will wet themself up whenever there's a chance..try to keep your dog dry and i;m sure your dog stays indoor with you therefore it will reduce the chances of the dog being wet or dirty fast..never ever let your dog sleep on wet surface...especially shih tzu as their hair could tangle up easily when its wet and not groomed..i hope my advice is useful to you..but if u have any further enquiries do not hesitate to ask..i will try my best to help you..
take care and god bless

Aloysius, who is Mr B and Mr M? Don't advertise your dog here, what is Mr B's sire and Mr M's dam??? Your grooming seems to be very nice at the Ipoh show already. Very well groomed.

MacKay, it never cross my mind that I was advertising. As a matter of fact I believe I was very appreciative of both Mr. M & B (whom you definately know) for both of their assistance.

Anyway, when I wrote this email it was month's ago and definately I'm a little better at this now (grooming) than before. I don't appreciate your unkind remarks made here at all!!

I don't mean you are advertising.....but its just a joke. LOL. Anyway, you did presented the dog very well that day.

This AKU show will be judged by a Min. Schnauzer specialist. Don't you feel interested to see how he judges?

Hi Mackay!
Good to see U in the forum! Waahh we are going to have a Mini-Schnauzer specialist judge this time? You are right.. this coming AKU show will be interesting. I heard that we have a LOT of M.Schnauzer entries this time, will you be showing your Takashi line as well?

Re: [arthur] Grooming Classes [In reply to] Can't Post

Yes, Arthur. A Min Schnauzer specialist, I was told. But unfortunately, I have no Schnauzers in coat. As you know, I emphasize more on Pekingese, then my Shih Tzu. My Shih Tzu is doing quite some winning for the time being, and she is also in the same group as the Schnauzers. I decided to forgo the Schnauzers when I begin to show my Shih Tzu.

Hi Mackay,

Oh I see.... Let me wish you all the best for this coming AKU show. I still remember how happy you looked last year when you won the Best in Show with your Ormalu Classified Pekingese entry. So this year your secret weapon will be the Shih Tsu entry? One thing I heard is that the AKU BIS title is HOT cos' one can be acredited with an Asian title. Is this correct?
