i came across the same article some time ago...been feeding him some supplements for the 3 fatty acids...hopefully can see some results after a couple of weeks.. thank you for posting this article here... and i will surf the net for more info on breed specific recipe...if i find anything useful i'll post it here for others to see
Hair growth formulas? Are they good for doggies? … *hmmm* … I guess that would depend on the product … Just like kibble there are different grades of supplements ...
I would expect coat supplements to contain linoleic acid, fatty acids. the various omega oils (such as 3 & 6) … and possibly lecithin ... and will have ingredients like fish extracts or oils, kelp ... sunflower or flaxseed oil ...
The better products will probably derive the above from better quality sources ... with less processing and rendering and be more natural and absorbable ...
Yes, its available now on pupp.com online shop. Just click on the ' Herbal Supplement' on the main shopping page.
Since we're on the subject perhaps I can give some infor and recommendations on Coat Condition
coat condition reflects the general health of the animal and a dull, thin, dry or scurfy coat may be the first outward sign of poor health, in which case the animal's general condition should be looked at. There are various different supplements to maintain good coat and the choice will depend on the type of coat of the breed. Keeper's Mix is a high quality all round supplement which given daily will maintain a strong healthy thick coat; Kelp Seaweed tablets or powder will encourage coat growth whereas Evening Primrose Oil capsules/liquid will help promote a long silky coat, improve a scurfy coat and reduce shedding. Adding appropriate oils to the daily feed will prevent dryness and maintain a healthy sheen and for this Wheatgerm Oil capsules/liquid is particularly recommended. Coat health also depends on a regular grooming regime to remove dead coat and tone the skin, particularly during the moulting period.
Hope the above helps. So go on and support the website online shop and give some good stuff to Billy.
thank you for your explanation on the different types of supplements...but i'm still confused lah.. i would like billy to have a healthy and thicker (& longer) coat, and also something to prevent dryness of the coat...what would you recommend then? (i am very 'tham sam' lah.....)
'tham sam"? then get all the 4 recommended LOL but seriously if you can, get a powder preparation (Keeper's Mix - best seller) and an oil(EPO)
