To own a dane is a good choice. I am sure to get one if my current danes no longer around.

I like the size, the elegant look, the movement, and the good temperament of this breed. I will share more information with you in future...

Have a Great Day.

I guess there are a lot of breeders in PJ, right? I know a few of them and I got Raven from one of them. Which one are you referring to? Damansara Utama, PJ Old Town, PJ Section 14, or....etc.

Ha...I know which breeder u r referring to.. The one near to a Hotel one right? The breeder lives in a bangalow one with a fat bullmastiff, right? I went to view his pups too. The sire is quite huge size but the dam is a bit small, right? Wink

Nope,..Raven is not from there. Tongue

Have u seen other dane pups from other breeders in PJ??? I have seen one Australia imported Black male dane in ss19 there. Very good looking. Maybe u should drop by there one day.

Well, I like Black dane because it is easy to maintain...besides the price is not so dear as compared to harlequin, which cost at least 3k.

It would be nice to own a harlequin dane. The color is special. But, Hardly seen one in Klang valley. I have seen one in sunway and one in PJ old town. From what I know, it is difficult to breed one with nice marking. Most breeders here breed regardless to the matching color. Very sad case!!!

Which college do u go to ??? I'm oso a college student ler... who knows we are classmate!!!! hee hee..

lol

not collegeTongue me in secondary school only

harlequin's are nice..i have seen a pup or two..but the markings not very nice. the pup had spots all over..looked like a dalmatian pup Unsure will the marking's darken and eventually "join" to form patches? very hard to find ones with nice markings

Sorri ar... thought u r in college..Tongue

Yup...harlequin is nice. I think the black spots are not equal in size and they don't scatter evenly all over the body. (like dalmatians) They won't join to form big patches. (from what I know)

I have seen one in old klang road, own by a used car dealer. It is a female harlequin. The black patches are quite evenly distributed over the white body. Very nice though...but the owner does not seem to care for the dane. I went there to view the pups some time ago.

Have a Great Day.

I think they shouldn't have bred them lor.... only my viewpoint ar....

in US or Europe countries, breeders there will only breed the same color dane...instead of mixing up with different colors...

In future, if I want to breed my female,. I would definately find a black stud, and only black...

o0oh..

say if a fawn and brindle dog/bitch mated, the pups will either be fawn or brindle right? it won't become a light coloured brindle(based on the usual colouring, not the genes where the parents might have other colour genes)

or mantle and fawn? the pups will either be fawn or mantle right? maybe harlequin..

Re: [RealityDreamer] GREAT DANE FANS [In reply to] Can't Post

if a fawn and brindle mated, i think the pups are going to be fawn and brindle too...it won't be like getting a lighter brindle or a darker fawn rite??? Both colors are acceptable to be mated according to the books that I read...

If a fawn mated with mantle.... then there is a possibility of getting some mixture of colors...like the base is fawn and with some black patches or white markings on the chest...maybe. I have seen one some time ago in Shah Alam. It is disqualified in the show for sure...

Below are the acceptable colors for mating:

1. Fawn vs Fawn or Brindle

2. Brindle vs Brindle or Fawn

3. Black vs Black or Harlequin or Mantle or Blue

4. Harlequin vs Harlequin or Mantle or black

5. Mantle vs Mantle or Harlequin or Black

6. Blue vs Blue or Black

Correct me if I'm wrong ok...I read from the books some time ago...and this is the best I can recall..Smile

Have a Great Day.

thanks for the info..nvr knew thatSmile

but the most common colours here are fawn and black..but haven't seen a pure black dane..they have small patches of white..most of the time the breeders mix these too..

yea..do agree with you..the fawns will get white patches..hmm..i saw a cream coloured dane..wonder how they got that colourUnsure

I'm trying my best....Smile

yup...I have seen a lot of black danes with white marking on the chest. They are the product of harlequin and black mixture. Fawn is also very common... I would love to have a harlequin in future...too expensive for me nowFrown

I have been viewing the Europe breeders on net. Their danes are just gorgious... I tried to ask about the pricing for a pup, and most of them are very expensive after converting to ringgit... It would be nice to import one...Unimpressed

Cream color dane?? u mean like the labrador cream color?? Most probably it is a mixed breed.... what u think??

Have a Great Day.

hmm...maybe try importing from Aussie?

i think if it was the normal home bred ones around AUS$ 800..not including air fare and health checks etc etc..

hmm..more golden retriever cream..more cream than yellow.. definitely pure bred..see the build, body shape and size, you know it's a great dane, it also has a cert..it was actually a nice sized female.. quite large compared to the smaller malaysian danes.

Re: [RealityDreamer] GREAT DANE FANS [In reply to] Can't Post

oh, really... sounds like it is cheaper to import from Australia.... after the conversion...er... plus the health check and air fare....should be around RM4k kua.... still consider cheap compares to Europe.

ok...I wonder why the Malaysian dogs are smaller in size as compared to the overseas'... Is that because of the weather and the type of food they feed their dogs??

It was very nice to meet and talk to you and your dad yesterday. Hope I can bring my dane next time...Smile

Re: [sslee80] GREAT DANE FANS [In reply to] Can't Post

yea..definitely Smile

i'm not sure..i hve brought this topic up a while ago..try searching "smaller size" or something like that

could be the weather..dedfinitely not the food..we buy dog food which were manufactured overseas which are widely used by the dogs overseas too. One member suggested that most ppl breed their bitches too often. the puppies end up smaller and "lower quality". still not too sure..even the pro breeders don't know why..

A pleasure to meet you tooSmile yea, can't wait to see Raven and Crystal

Re: [RealityDreamer] GREAT DANE FANS [In reply to] Can't Post

weather plays an important role on the size of the dogs huh? It reminds me of a GR breeder in cheras who breed GR in a bangalow equipped with air conditions,..and swimming pool too... The owner is the specialist on GR...and he imported the dogs from US... I guess when the dogs live in a cold weather, they tend to eat more and thus they would grow bigger, huh???

Maybe u can try it out on tyson...heheheh.

Re: [sslee80] GREAT DANE FANS [In reply to] Can't Post

I'm not sure abt the weather..but your reason is sensible..colder, burns more energy to keep warm, eat more..

i think the air condition is for the comfort of the dogs..if they're comfortable, they'll be happier, better over all..

does that breeder show his dogs?

lol..Tyson? i wish i could..i bring Silky into the house already she doesn't like it..only can bring them in at night, after dinner for some "family" time..and of course sometimes in the afternoon when it gets too hot(which is almost everyday)Tongue

Re: [RealityDreamer] GREAT DANE FANS [In reply to] Can't Post

yea,..I agree with you..

Well... about the air condition for dogs,..I m not sure about the purpose of the breeder. Maybe because of the thick fur?? Thicker fur may need colder environment to live more comfortable???

I don't think he showed his dogs before... from what I know, his GRs have chap bloodline from US. Very nice dogs.

My mum wouldn't allow the dogs to go in the house... she complains about the fur and the smell...Unsure

oh ya...there is an ad on star... a harlequin dane is on sale in PJ. I will be going to view this afternoon. It is a female...about 2 years +. Just feel excited to see the dane. Are you interested??? Add one more dog means double the extra JOY for sure...heheheSmile... will let you know more soon...

will bring Raven for the 4th dressing tomorrow...
still can't bring him out for walk yet..Frown
