My dog Ginger whom I picked from the roadside understandably is not used to being leashed. She'll started whinning and pulling away from it until she starts gagging and sometimes puking! I can't even take her for walks at all. HOW lah?
i would like to suggest that u try putting on the leash and let her walk around with the leash herself for sometime first so that she'd get used to it... when she's used, pick up the leash, happily call her towards u.. hopefully leash-phobia will be gone by then.
ps : don't tug the leash for now, this might frighthen her
hmm..i too had the same problem with my pup and used the same method which hunter mentioned. well, once the leash phobia is gone, you will get an advantage during training sessions I'm not so sure abt Ginger but for my pup,Tyson, during training i would just tug a little and he would stop/sit. The best part is when your pup starts getting excited during walks, just tug a little and she'll slow down/stop well, that's what happened to my pup anyway. ,-._,-. \/)"(\/ (_o_)
