i've just bought my beagle yesterday (24/06) and today, i discovered that its tummy was bulging. i brought it to the vet and he told me that the puppy has protozoa infection. the vet gave me antibiotics (pills) for the puppy but i've tried very hard to let it take its medication, even by using force, but it spits it out and bites my finger all the time.
I feel your pain. I too had to nurse a puppy back to health.
Anyway,have you tried this method?
Put your thumb and pointer behind the pup's canines. There should be a small gap there and the teeth after that are a little shorter. Open the mouth and face the mouth upwards (as 90degrees as you can get). Pop the pill into his throat. Try to avoid the pill dropping on the tongue,it'll taste bitter and the pup might struggle more. After popping the pill in,close his mouth a massage his throat.Put some water,not too much,you might choke him,just enough to 'lubricate' the throat. Close the mouth and massage the throat again.
Try that...seems to work on my dogs..

about this you can try to smash the medicine and put it into his food or drink... this always works on my minpin cause he refuses to eat his medicine.. so i smash his medicine and put it into his milk...
try to put the medicine on his fav food and not letting him know ... i hope it wirks for you, this works for my minpin ...

i tried this method. he spit it out too. i gave up and finally brought him to the vet again. the vet managed to force the pill down his throat but he somehow managed to spit it out too.
finally the vet gave me antibiotics in liquid form which was sweet and he really likes it.
well, try not putting too much on his food then.. like give half on his food and another half on his milk... don't put into tablet.. just make it into powder and later mix it with his food nad drinks... i think this will work.. if not then we have to try other thing ... ~~~ It'S a DoGgY DoG WorLD~~

hmm...well...this method work on my 3 months old beagle. I used to make him sleep like a baby...u know the way how u hug a baby? while his lying that way i just open up his mouth n put the tablet right to his mouth. without any difficulties he swollow it if compare with last time.
So after that i'll give him a few dog biscuit, so that he won't have the medicine taste in his mouth or throat.
maybe can crush the tablet into powder, mix with syrup, and feed via a 3cc syringe. just hold doggy tight, gently open the mulut and inject the concotion slowly and puppy will lick the syrup happily. alternatively, ask the vet for syrup flagyl instead. zippy 'rowena' kojak
