No freedom for Subang Jaya doggies Can't Post

thestar.com.my/metro/story.asp?file=/2011/4/14/central/8475437&sec=central

MPSJ also restricted dog owners from bringing their dogs for a walk in public places, shopping complexes, religious places,

all government and private offices, government and private schools and on public transport.

MPSJ has distributed brochures to Subang Jaya residents with a warning that the council has the right to impound or

confiscate dogs that are taken to public places.

Gosh.... MPSJ please look again at your restriction!

From my opinion, I agreed if MPSJ fined d owner if :

- their dog roaming around without leash / without d supervision of d owner, to prevent the dogs from attacking small children.

- the owner didnt pick up d dog's poo

But confiscate d dogs if found in public place with d owner's presence? That's too much.

Dogs need exercise and they cant be confined in d house for all day long. Definitely they need some place to walk around.

And for the banned of 7 breeds?

What about those doggies who have spent years attached to their owner? It is totally not fair just to take these doggies away from their owner? Probably these doggies are really innocent and never attacked people and raised as a loving family pet, can their lives just be taken away because they born to be these banned breeds?

For controlling these banned breeds, may be in future MPSJ should not issue license for these 7 breeds, instead of just vanish them with immediate effect.

Re: [vylauren] No freedom for Subang Jaya doggies [In reply to] Can't Post

It was indeed a sad day for MPSJ when this ridiculous ban was announced. Zero thinking went behind this. Breed banning is lazy and the easy way out in dealing with dangerous dogs. We all know every dog bites. Too bad the authorities don't know the same.

I've seen obedient German Shepherds and Dobermans on leash walking to heel with their owners. And I have also seen a poodle attack other leashed dogs because its owner lets it walk off leash. How do you address this issue? With a breed ban?

Responsible owners who have brought up their dogs to be well-behaved, well-socialised animals are the ones who suffer.
