Creating Awareness Can't Post

It seems that Penang and KL members are very active when it comes to having dog shows, BBQ parties, Outings, etc.. but I am sure there are more dog lovers out there that could only 'wish' they were part of this wonderful team. I must say that the 'penang gang' has invested alot of time and effort in creating awareness among the public with the recently held dog show at Gurney Plaza and also the Dog Show in Dome, Penang. However, it's sad to see that MKA did not setup a booth or counter for ppl to sign up as new members or to get to know us or even have representatives to advise those dog lovers out there on how they could be part of this great community! I strongly believe that if MKA were to be 'more' involved in these activities it would bring them more member and it's like a win-win situation for them, for us, and most importantly for the new dog lovers out there as they would be well informed on all the recent activities that goes around and how to participate rather than being informed through word of mouth or small articles on newspaper. Most of them have the desire but simply do not know where to go or how to go about it. This is just my thought and idea for sharing...

Jaz

Totally agree with you.

Many dog owners don't access to the internet, yet to mention to browse tru this forum. If, for every event that puppycom going to organise, brochures or fliers could be distrubuted to the members or "future-potential" members, that would help in raising the awareness of the community. By this, they don't even have to logon to the internet and still, enjoy the outings. (maybe from the expansion, puppy.com could have more offline members to join in.)

Yeah, exactly, from my own personal experience, I happen to come across Puppy.com while surfing through internet looking for a new pup. I have no idea what MKA was or what so ever. Lucky me, I so happen to bumped into this really great site... that's when I started to learn more about dogs. It was also through Puppy.com that I learn how to register my dog and go about dog shows, etc. I am sure there are lots of other ppl like just what you mentioned "future-potential" members where they will find valuable advice from this site and from us to learn from them as well. I am sure when it comes to signing of any petition that we strongly feel about; with more members we can make it a dream come through!! The more the merrier!!

Jaz~

Me too!!

When I was browsing the net for info to send home from Michigan, the first site i thought was to this so-called MKA (affiliated to AKC). Well~ truely disappoited by the out-to-date info and non-informative "info". Basically..... it is just an OFFICIAL WEBSITE.Unsure

Then I came across Puppy.com.my. IMPRESSED~!!!ShockedShockedShocked Never thought there's such a forum built up by Malaysian (*APPLAUSE to KHOO*)

I could still remember I only posted messages in the Intro Section and I received so many feedbacks and informative helps from other members, just to name a few like Khoo, Uncle Moo, Arthur, Valerie,....and others. From them only I knew what I shall do and Where to seek help and also to refer to other's experiences on pet-travelling and import/export issues.

Well~ after solving the problem or exporting . What a relief!!!

and i gotto know many nice ppl from this forumWink.

Now my MSN/ICQ list got longer and always filled with Forum members! Isn't it amazing that dogs bring us together and the frenship is tru this forum???Angelic

I really feel that this is a REAL site that everyone could share openly.

True, so I guess instead of promoting MKA, perhaps we should promote Puppy.Com instead, I mean the new potential members would eventually get to know MKA sooner or later, just like in our case Wink.

I would suggest on any outing that we have, such as the coming BBQ party organize by Patricia to wear the Puppy.Com T-shirt!!! I am sure we'll be seeing more new members pouring in this website!! ha! ha!

At the same time, word of mouth is very powerful, just at my work place, most of my close friends are already a member *some very active too* to this fabulous website!!! and since I love to share good stuff with my friends, I would really recommend this website to who ever I know that are dog lovers!

Re: [jaz] Creating Awareness [In reply to] Can't Post

hey Jaz,
I also "accidentally" browse through the web and found puppy.com. Before that, I would not know we have MKA and what they do.
I thought we have SPCA and PAWs that take care everything about doggies and cats. Dog lovers without access to internet will be "blind" unless publicity is made or advertisement will be helpful too. They have been quiet though....
MKA should be the single channel to dog lovers of all enquiries. They should promote public awareness.

Yup! Yup! that's why it's rather sad to see that they are not that proactive, at least to me.... dog events are great opportunity for them to promote themselves, at the same time increases the enrollment of new members into this dog community!! But if we were to make a comparison, I think it would be more effective to promote Puppy.com as eventually the new member would get to know MKA anyway, just like from our previous experience! Young members, especially, will find this site very up to date and 'real' besides being so informative! I personally think any dog lovers will treat this as 'heaven' especially for first timer or 'blur blur' ones like how I use to be once! ha! ha!

Hi Trivor~

Yeah, there's still many dog-owners who don't go online. If there's a way to promote Puppy.com's outing events, they could come and join...have fun.....exchange thoughts with members.... socialise the furkids.... still a lot of things to do with the forum members but without internet access.Smile

No ler... ... as what Derrick mentioned, it's different when you put names to faces, somehow everything gets more 'personal' at least you know better who you are talking to now!!! which is a very good thing! Even at the show, me and Eve being first timer, after winning, Eve just walk away.. till Derrick mentioned that how come we never collect the dog food, etc... then only we approach the organizer to collect our prize! hahahhah!!! really blur like sotong!

Well, everything has a trade off / opportunity cost.... if we ever win again, we'll see Boon and Steven approaching us for free meal again! of course Eve will be happy to treat them anytime since she's the handler! I am only the one paying, grooming and bringing them to the show! kkekekekkekk
