how to make my dog aggrasive? Can't Post

Yes, my question is how to make my dog aggressive?

my dog is currently about 5 months old
and yes, altho some ppl would say shes still young
but there are others too that say dogs have a concrete personality that sticks to them.
My dog is friendly..to almost anyone!
well, at fist i thought it was good
but just last week a robber came into my house
and my dog didnt bark or anything
she just laid there....
I was very disappointed..

so any tips on it being aggressive to strangers?
thanks!
Mike

you wish your dog to be agressive, lock it up where he does not see or meet anyone but family members. Please note you must spend more time with it as it must listen to someone giving command. You must have seen dogs running away from their owners when they see a cat and the owner will be screaming his/her head off and the dog just keep going after the cat... well that is waht you do not want. Anyway, your dog is just a pup so it does not really know what is going on and secondly these days robbers sometimes put a charm on your dogs. My suggestion is give your dog another 5 to 6 months and see if it turn out to be a good watch dog.

I think 5 mths old puppy normally still friendly to everyone like my ECS(5 mths),

and my ACS almost 10 mths just only started know how to guard and bark people.

so,give her sometime and start to train her as well, she can become a good watchdog

cuz i dun think it seems to be working
as my friends come to my house at night
so, not much of a difference
she stills sees my friends when i let her loose in the night...
or should i tie her up when ppl are here a my house in the night as well ?

A myth is still a myth.. It doesn't change much to the dog's behavior even after feeding raw meat. My dog go on raw and they are as friendly as ever. Some dogs never go on raw in their lives but are aggressive too..

It's just a few days only that you start locking her up. Dun expect to see a difference so fast. When the forumers mean by locking up is to not let your dog go near any other strangers at all including night time. Let your dog be only familiar with you and your family members. It will be till she can differentiate between strangers and family members..

Actually i lock up my dog just only when i not at home.

and i am also agree with Acyen, feeding raw meat is not workable as i have a friend who has fed raw meat b4 for his golden,

BUT his dogs still friendly to everyone.

Because different dogbred got different characteristic.

you have to lock her up when your friends are around...if you wanna let him run around for a while, just make sure that you are there with him...let him be used to your family members first...then you see how it goes after a few months...the most important part is that during these few months, everytime he is out of the cage, there must not be anyone else apart from your family...

Ah, icicic
well, now what I do is i lock her at the back of the house
according to the person who gave her to me,
she is a mix of Rottweiler and Doberman (MUM) and x (DAD)
and i found out after taking the canine test that she is a dog of high pack and prey drive, both are equal of value in the test. (70)
fight and flight is however low. (45 and 30)

would this info help clarify anything
thanks!!

i cant believe that the others are actually giving u suggestions to make you dog becomes aggressive Shocked. what can a puppy do to armed robbers? they can easily kill the dog with their weapon or just poison it!

pls just get a good burglar alarm system instead of torturing and ruining this puppy.

Wake up, the advise given is to train the dog to be a watch dog not a guard dog and secondly certain breeds are bred to be guard dogs and watch dogs ..... "working dogs". Beside what does a good alarm do when nobody response to it when it sounds.

Haha.. so u think someone would care if a dog barks?

U advised the OP that in order to make the dog become aggressive, he has to lock the dog up so that it would not see others other then the family members. Sure enough the puppy will grow up to be an aggressive & psycho dog if the OP really follows your advice Shocked

Re: [BarkingMad] how to make my dog aggrasive? [In reply to] Can't Post

You have no idea what you are talking about, I have numerous dogs, all good watch dogs, however only once my dog stop my house and immediate neighbours house from being broken into, 3 years ago, 4th day of chinese new year and yet I can walk my dogs thru a crowd during puppy.com gathering, all in training nothing to do with anything. Please note I mentioned "watch dog" hence bark when there is an intruder, so if no one cares when the dog barks, is not the fault of the dog but the owner at least you have had your first line of defence. If the dog turns psycho as you put it, is mainly due to the owner not spending enough time with it.

Re: [PSY] how to make my dog aggrasive? [In reply to] Can't Post

yes, you are right.....

normal family just want a 'watchdog' that can alert the family when there are stranger approaching their house...

when my grandpa's old mixed dog passed away and we have no dog for 1 month only.....then our house had been broken in...

now i owned another mixed dog, during night time i will lock her up in cage, but if there are any intruders, she'll definately bark to alert us....and is safer that way, so burglar can't injure or poison her....

no burglar in the right mind will wanna broke into a house with barking dogs (unless is a mansion and being too tempting)...they will rather choose a more quiet location

how long has she been staying in your house?

dogs need time to recognize and protect their own territory...

i would say 5 months is still young....

you can still have friends come to your house and let your dog be friends with them....becoz they shoud be able to differentiate between friends and foe...

but when you bring your dog out for walk....don't let every abu, ah meng and ali to pat him....

i myself has a rather aggressive dog...she will never let stranger to pat her, only family members and long time friends can touch her...n sometimes it can be rather annoying when a stranger decided to approach my dog and stretch out their hands without prior consulting me....

but she's alright in public places and walking in crowded area....as long as no one touch her, everything is normal....

Re: [PSY] how to make my dog aggrasive? [In reply to] Can't Post

I agree with BarkingMad, done wrongly, you're going to end up with a frustrated, anti-social dog. As the handler, it is up to you to decide who she can approach friendly and who not to. For example, she obviously knows who your friends are by the way you greet them and talk to them, so she'll feel comfortable with them. So whether you want Muthu, Ahmad and Ah Cheong to approach your dog, is up to YOU. I suggest wait a little while until she grows up. Some breeds are just not meant to watch/guard. Get a specialized breed if you really want one.

Re: [ferox] how to make my dog aggrasive? [In reply to] Can't Post

hello,

from what i understand the 6 months dog is a rott x dob, so i guess we solve one of the problem. the dog is meant to watch/ guard the house. but if the dog have nerve or temperement problem then any dog also will not fit the bill here. i too believe 6 months is rather young to determine if a dog is a good guard dog. it doesnt mean that a dog bark when stranger approach is a good watch/guard dog. it could be due to fear. a no confidence dog will lead to fear biting, snapping at owner, running away and tucked tail and etc. i guess it all comes down to socialization and also training. usually a male is very territorial so i am sure he will do his duty.

good luck.

Re: [ferox] how to make my dog aggrasive? [In reply to] Can't Post

I think you miss the point, lock your dog up means do let it socialise with anyone but the people in the house.... no visitors let it out in the compound, play "fetch" or whatever with it but when you have visitors put it away. There was also mentioned of making it into a fearful dog, a watchdog is a fearful dog to strangers, that is why it barks and run however if the dog is fearless it will attack and the chance of it stop barking is very high. A dog needs to know what it is protecting or watching over and that is why it must know everyone living in the house. I have a dobs and one particular brindle mix (lab & great dane) and she is 8 years old no training and I trust her totally with my 5 year old niece. My niece walks her in public roads (with an adult following about 3 meters behind) and this dog will walk at "heel" position and when a car approaches she would just stop and sit until the car passes by, no one thought her this and if I am walking her she would not do this so I think it is exposure and the bond a dog has with it's handler. After saying all this my dobs do not do this it heels but do not stop when a car approaches.... do not know and do not understand and they are all trained for Ob trials.

Re: [ferox] how to make my dog aggrasive? [In reply to] Can't Post

Ah, thank you all for your generous advises!
My dog is now 8/9 months old now :)
Well, i have developed into a new situation!

Just only a while ago, she was let loose of her leach because my bro wanted to see what was the fuss she was up to was tied up, so decided to check on her.
She was really pulling on the leach so when trying to adjust it to a more easy position, she got out of her leach and started running in circles of the gardener.
Her expression was not a fierce one but more towards an excited dog playful expression.

so, what does this mean? is it a fearful dog? playful or protective?

oh yeah, also when she starts biting off the "not supposed to touch" stuff like shoes, slippers, broom sticks, china, flower pots where i dont know how, but she always gets the chance to get them whenever we "slip" in our watchful and careful considerations to keep them away from her. Anywyay, when i take it from her, she starts running then she crouches, as if ready to launch position and starts running here and there (around) in a very excited way...whats going on?

Thanks!
Mike

the crouching and launching is definately being playful. my dog always did that when she saw new dogs approach. as if she wanna launch an attack on them.

Train your dog "COME" by using treats.

Say "Come" and if he come near you..give him the treat. (get the chain near you too), so, you can chain him at the same time.
