if i'm not mistaken, another way to clean a dog's teeth is to take the dog to the vet, put on anesthetic, and the vet will perform scaling... it's costly, and may be risky is the dog is a senior...

hope other forumers could share their experience or opinions... Smile

yes bones, rawhide, and also the greenies n dental care treats will help. Avoid giving a lot of soft food and giving pellets will make the teeth cleaner..

depends on how big the puppy's mouth is....Laugh

normally for adult dogs, pig's marrow bone / femur / leg bone given, the dog will spend a whole day grinding away....

for smaller dogs u have to choose smaller bones, that won't break n' splinter, those from poultry are no no....

pet treats from this company is good, i've mentioned this treat few years ago, they have improved their packaging now, its all dehydrated , no processing n' no colours.

but its not that easily available, and limited choice, maybe a bit exp for some, its still available in PLC ikano....

actually if u were to give them those after meal biscuits that is meant to clean their teeth it wont become like that...its not so costly...one box of those costs around rm 12, and it can last u for one month plus...can consider that next time...Laugh

Re: [jagathish] help me plz.... [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi Jack, I think the yellowish things are cavities and hard too....like my old 8 yrs old dog, she has serious problem with it ( yellow teeth and hard yellow cavities). I sent her to the vet for scaling last month and the vet even took out 2 of the inner teeth as they are loosen due to the cavities that causes gum problems that makes the gum exposing the covered part of the teeth. He told me that dogs can't chew well with it and causes pain, that's why they eat less and not loss of appetite. Scaling is a bit expensive but your dog will love you for it, trust me....my dog now finishes 2 meals a day which she can't even finish one meal previously. By the way, the vet told me that we should have the dog's gum and teeth checked every year to prevent this and also loss of teeth.

Hope this helps, just a recent experience....

bones like those of chicken or poultry, ie the drumstick or thigh, they claim if uncooked would not splinter, i dono how true. haven't experiment...

the pig femur bone is a huge one, it won't splinter cooked or uncooked, becos its way bigger than a chicken drumstick...

maybe a huge dog like mastiff can break the middle part of that bone, but a normal dog, i think they can't grind till that part...
