Hi Shirley My ST x Bichon mix also have the same skin problem like yours... even worse, I think, coz my Dewey keep scratching and biting his back and back side and scratching his tummy with his hind legs. I also notice flakes on his head and ears... besides that also got red patches behind the legs... he will scratch until bleeding/hair fall off.....i brought it to the vet and the vet say the red patches is due to fungus infection and the flakes, Dewey probably got the skin problem from his mum when he is still feeding on her milk... the vet gave me some lotion to apply on the wounds and some antiitch medicine(eated twice a day) to stop him from scratching. the best way is "botak" the dog, not only cut the fur short coz the lotion will still not kena the skin fully.i also bathe Dewey with selenium shampoo(Seledruff) every 3 days.I will scrub and soak him for abt 15 minutes before rinsing him. After 2 weeks of this treatment, the skin heal already... now no problem... i am also giving him nutricoat... so now after a month, the fur grow back already and it is so shiny... although still short and he stop shedding fur already. Hope this helps you.
