Annual Vacination	Can't Post

Is it good for adult dogs to go for the annual vaccination every year? i've ready somewhere that it is not? Any idea? There seems to be mixed opinions on this.

ya, there are different opinion...

as for vets and vaccine's manufacturer... they would said its good for annual vaccination...

coz can u imagine if we don't vaccine our dogs yearly, they'll go bankrupt. Mad

but from wat i read from 'Nature' magazine... thats a journal that mentioned annual vaccine will do more harm than benefits.

some had suggest to minimize the vaccination to once every 3 years.

other suggest to get the dog to undergo blood test to check whether their immune system needs the vaccination a not. coz some vaccination can last for more than few years.

it really depends on which type of vaccine. coz in malaysia, vets usually give 6 in 1 booster.

So far there is no prove that annual vacination will cause harm to our furkid but if your dog did't go for annual vacination that I very sure the dog will easy get a contagious deceases. Wink

the magazine is for scientist to publish their research articles.....

i read those journal quite often coz it helps on my studies....

if u guys r interested to know more i'll post up the article here....

but give a few days for me to look for the mag.

Amanda!! I also heard my friend said that dogs no need vaccine annualy. It harms more! Errm...So how often you send your furkids for vaccine? I didnt vaccine my furkids for more than a year d. I was thinking bringing them to vaccine next week I go back to Penang.

Well what I can say is there is no harm in vaccinating your dog yearly. I have 6 dogs and I vaccinate them all every year.

usually annual vaccination price range from RM40-70...according to dog size

while vaccination fees do vary according to body size but that's in term of frequency of vaccination, depends on the vaccine the vet gave lah, each visit is the same charge. According to my vet, small and medium breed dog require 3 jabs during puppyhood (2-3-4 months old) while large breed (2-3-4-5 months old), why is there a different? i also dunno, but heard is about antibody from mummy in the large breed last longer particularly for the parvo thingy so they need extra one more jab wow....sounds complicated to me!!!

While for the annual or every 3 years vaccination wise, i prefer 3 years one, but i do take my boy boy to vet every year for checkup (and i supposed that maybe one of the reason the manufacturer suggest annual vaccination).

I did discuss with my vet about this issue before, and he told me because one of the vaccine (because the vaccine is in combination, 6-in-1, 7-in-1 even got 10-in-1) in the combination does not provide long lasting protection if compared with other 5 vaccines type (if u r givin 6-in-1 lah), so they have to be given annual loh instead of every 3 years

and that vaccine that doesnt last longer one, my vet said that the disease is usually transmit thru urine, from rat....lah dunno which is which and is not so well known in malaysia....but if u guys think that u have more than one dog and rats running around in ur house.....then annual vaccination should be done loh
