Getting New Rottie Pup - Need advice Can't Post

Hello Frown

I am planning to buy a Rottweiler puppy soon. Would be grateful for any advice I can get.

I know Rotties have a bad rep, due to bad training. Is there a difference between the temperaments of male and female Rotties?

Also, I have been reading about how the eventual temperament of the Rottie is dependent on its parents. How true is this?

Finally, does anyone know of a trustworthy Rottweiler breeder I can buy a puppy from? I don't mind paying a higher price, as long as I have assurance the parents are of good temperaments.

Thanks for reading!

Re: [meyueli] Getting New Rottie Pup - Need advice [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi Meyueli,

Male rottie are actually quite stuborn abit more
difficult to train because it lacks of concentration compared to female

But female is a bit moody ...It can be playing with one minute and another minute just wondering around

I do agree that good sire and dam will produce good puppy...Just like my dads first rottie that was bought with out any experience in rottie..We just went to a pet shop and get one with out a cert and very cheap only 800 but ended with a small headed long legs rottie... Other than the looks we are actually quite lucky because it is a very sweet companion dog not like the other four we have that is very alert and from a guard dog blood line...

For more info look at
www.der-rottweiler.com/
As for breeders search at the net there is a few rottie breeder some has famous bloodline too

Hi. I just bought a rottie. now its 8 weeks old and have a nice structure.
Parents are nice and friendly. Protect family member and a good guard dog.
There is one more female puppy. Dont worry, the mother only give birth 4 pups.
1 male and 3 female. 3 of the female is same size. If you're interested, pls let me know. cheap price and with cert/microchiped. worth it!

Hi, just to re-assure you on Rottie, the bloodline is important so if you can check out the dam if she is good her pups should have good temprament too. A female Rottie is generally more "manja" and training is slightly easier they tend not to "challenge" you.
Have fun in looking for your pup and all the best.

Frown Hallo Marvin,

Yup, got my puppy! In fact, I just brought her home today. I bought her from My-Pet Kennel in Klang, the guy who runs the place is called Siva. He is a trainer, who also does Shutzhund training for dogs. Have you heard of him before?

My pup's name is Bessy, and she's very sweet. A bit naughty. Very intelligent, too. Taught her to sit, and she managed to learn it today. I hope she will remember tomorrow!

Thanks so much for the link you gave me - the Der Rottweiler site. It's really an excellent website!

Hey DKMF! If you're reading this, hope your pup is doing good Frown

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR to everyone!

Smile

Re: [marvinlee] Getting New Rottie Pup - Need advice [In reply to] Can't Post

Hallo everyone!

Marvin, my pup is a she. Her name is Bessy. I bought her for RM1400. Is that the normal price for Rotties? I'm not very sure the market price :p

I'm not too sure about whether there are My-Pet shop in KL. The one I went to in Klang is not really a shop - it's a training centre/school.

Hallo DKMF, my pup's birthday is on 18 December. Like you said, she is one day older than your pup! :D

Another question I have: What food are you feeding your Rottie pup? I am feeding my pup Acana - she has been eating this in the breeder's place. But her poop is quite watery, like milkshake consistency. So am wondering what everyone else feeds their Rottie pup?

Thanks for reading!

Re: [meyueli] Getting New Rottie Pup - Need advice [In reply to] Can't Post

Hallo

Actually i dont really know the actual D.O.B did not get my cert back yet ....Approx its 12 weeks old....

So where do you all live ?

Meyueli did you give your pup greenies .... My Mika had some greenies last time and her poo came out the same way as

you describe.... I am feeding Mika ProPac for large breed puppy .... But according to the vet its not the best brand ...... He introduce royal canine but the breeder said that black wood is quite a good brand .... So until now i still dunno which brand to stay with yet coz i still have a lot of ProPac left .... But make sure that you food has glucosamine .... Coz we dont want it to have joint problem when thay are fully grown .....

DKMF what do you feed your pup?

Re: [marvinlee] Getting New Rottie Pup - Need advice [In reply to] Can't Post

Dear Friends,

I feed my rottie with proformance ( www.proformancepet.com)
I found that this is good compare with other brand *not convenience to mention in public.

Yueli, as i told you, you better change your food. as i intro to you science plan.

Marvin, what's your puppy weight up to date? dont tell me mine is heavy than yours.
You better pump him nicely. 12 weeks should be more than 10kg. Where do you stay?

Can anyone comment about my puppy size?
I need some comment. Thank you.

Hi! I've stopped feeding my girl Acana. I'm now feeding her California Natural. Her poo is very good Frown

Did a lot of research on dog food. And there is a lot of information on the Net about the type of food for our dogs. For example, a lot of popular brands of dog food are actually no better than junk food Crazy

Go to this website, it's very good:
www.dogfoodproject.com/index.php?page=main

My girl is really doing well on California Natural. Can see from her poo and her coat Laugh

hey people. i need an advise. i have a 11 month old rottweiler. its a she. she's HUGH but however i encounter a problem. i find that she's too friendly. whoever comes, she'll be fine. and she'll 'shake-hands' with whoever wants to. and she doesn't bark. is it find for a rottie at 11 month old to be like that? thanks for any advise rendered! Hey Max does she do that when you are with her or being left alone? Normally some dogs get reserved with strangers when they are older .....Or may be you sosiallise your dog too much ....

Re: [marvinlee] Getting New Rottie Pup - Need advice [In reply to] Can't Post

marvin, thanks for your reply. i'm not too sure about whether i'm socialising too much with her. and she's rather lazy, just awhile of exercises and she's lazing on the floor. is it a sign that she's too unhealthy?
