Re: [acsyen] Frontline Spray [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi guys,

I was reading through the threads and I felt that I should make a few humble comments. For starters, all those who did their research are right! Under a report from the Environment Protection Agency in the U.S., Fipronil and Methoprene, both found in frontline and their closest competitor products, can cause a string of very servere problems not in dogs, but also in humans! For example, fipronil is classified as a carcinogen and can cause thyroid cancer, increased organ weights, altered thyroid hormones, loss of aptite, underactivity, convulsions, whinning, body twitching and tremors, along with a whole lot of other problems. It is usually the "marketing methods" used by large corporations to send to try to hide the fact that what they are actually using is bad for your dog. Some of you actually mentioned that the fleas and ticks don't die or seem to go away after application. This sadly is true. What they the large corporations don't tell you again is that ticks, like other insect pests such as cockroaches, will develop an immunity to these substances after awhile. It is part of their bilogical make up and that is how they survive and we can never seem to get rid of them. The entire human race can be wiped out by a nuclear disaster but trust me, cockroaches will still be around long after we are gone!! That is why, large pesticide companies have to constantly change their formulas after a few years. After awhile, they become useless. Have you all noticed that Frontline just launced a new formula recently????? Hmmmm.... Why do you think thsy did that??? A few of you mentioned a white liquid that you can buy from vets. What you are buying is actually a poison known as tartic. NO GOOD! Serious poison! Try putting a bit too much and your dog immediately goes into convulsions. Always remember, the skin is the largest organ in the body. putting it on your skin is just as good as putting it in your mouth. However, with everything grim that I have said above, there is good news for people who want to get rid of ticks. Some of you mentioned eucalyptus oil. I don't know if that works. However, your dogs may get irritations such as eye and breathing problems if not used carefully. I heard that tea tree oil, to a certain extent, is effective. I've also heard that in Singapore where the licencing to sell tick products is not monopolized by frontline, (this is a real conspiracy theory) there is a certain product containing a non poisonous biological chemical called Etofenprox. It is a compound that is made entirely from natural elements such as carbon, hydrogen and oxygen and will not harm your animal. The brand is called Accurate. You can use on puppies, lactating bitches and it will not harm them. I don't know if the product has seeped up here but you can try asking around to see if pet shops or vets have it. Good stuff. So next time when you think of getting rid of ticks, read the product labels.

Later.....

ok, i've found this thingy, Accurate, found it on a SG online pet store. the pic is above.

http://www.petsgourmet.com.sg/...-and-Tick-Spray.html

It's stated there that it contains "ETOFENPROX"

oh wht is that? ran a search online.

ETOFENPROX is classified as a pesticide, a wide spectrum pesticide, means it can/used to kill a lot of insects etc. It is used on crops, kills mozzies etc.

Now isn't that poison? yea of course it is.

Maybe people says that it is not poisonous to human. Especially the manufacturers. So how accurate the claim is??

Not much info regarding ETOFENPROX could be found online, mainly because, it wasn't developed in the USA.
Not sure which company dev it, maybe the japanese because it was registered and widely used as a pesticide on crops in japan and a few european countries.

Its not registered to be used as pesticide for crops in the USA, and not much study and test are being done there either.

A few brands are using ETOFENPROX , like Sergeant's gold, advantage...
Upon checking, the % of the chemical is 40-50%, wow that is a lot, compared to Frontline's less than 1% of Fipronil.

What we all want is a really natural product which works,
or does it really work?

I've found this on that same SG website, Sentry natural defence.
http://www.sentrynatural.com/index.html

its actually Sergeant's Nature's guardian in the states.
http://www.sergeantsnatural.com/index.html

anywan wana try get this product from sg and try it.
or if u could get hold of these oil and DIY urself to see if it works. as per claimed...

# peppermint oil
# cinnamon oil
# lemongrass oil
# clove oil
# thyme oil

My previous vet is Dr Wong in Bandar Puteri, as stated by this person who recommended this product under the ester-c thread. I have cheched with the pet supplies store. They mention that this product is not registered that's why can't sell here. Unless they sell it under table. Every product that comes in needs to be registered. Wonder why no one register n bring in the product since it is claimed to be so good..
