Barking At Early Hour	Can't Post

Dear Member,

It has been for awhile that kiddi will never fail to bark in the morning at abt 6.30 am - 7.00 am until I go out to attend to her.

But for these few days, her biological clock seem to be confused and she starting to bark for attention at early hour in the morning (5.30 am) then I have to wake up and stay with her Frown

Do anyone know how to cope with this behavior? I thought of ignoring her but her barking was very loud and sharp, that is distrubing other ppl and neighbouring!

Now my mom was complaining alot abt this Unsure

No one would want to take care kiddi while I am outstation or busy.....

Feeling depressed and tired already. Just today morning I woke up at 5.30 am to stop her barking!

I guess maybe Kiddi knows the "time", just that she missed you so much that she can't wait another hour to be with you Wink

If you ignore Kiddi when she barks, it'll have to take a few times before she'll learn that her barkings won't work - but this will be very unpleasing to your neighbours. Have you taught her the "quiet/no-bark" command? You can teach her this during your playing/training time with her.

Munji never cry/bark but will sure disturb me with her deep breathing/panting noises if she wants something from me. I guess I never let her bark even during her playing time. When she barks too loud in her dream, I'll say "shhhh" & she'll stop that immediately. So, depends on Kiddi's behaviour, teach her the "quiet" command.

Maybe you can bring Kiddi into your bedroom & let her there while you can continue your sleep. If she barks, you can just say the word "quiet" on your bed Crazy

hi Cecilia,

Yes, Kiddi know the quiet command very well. Tell her to quiet, she will obey and shut up...but then after a while she see no reaction from me then continue barking again Unsure

She will never bark during our play time or even in any hour except for MORNING!!!

Do you think that putting a muzzle will prevent her barking?

Gee� I don�t know whether Muzzle will be useful for Kiddi as I teach Munji based on my knowledge & understanding about her because it�s much easier for me. My neighbour was using it for their dog who kept barking whoever passes by. But, when they released it, he barked non-stop � I guess it�s just how we use it to our dog � they tied him at the backyard all day long & never take him out � he�s a guard dog. Since you�re caring for Kiddi so well, this won�t happen to you. If muzzle is the best choice for Kiddi, then introduce it & monitor her learning.

For me, I don�t think muzzle will work for Munji or may take more effort to get her shut-up. From what I can see, if I put on muzzle, sure she�ll bang herself because of irritation. So, I just brought her into my room, & whenever she make noise, I just said "quiet" on my bed. Well, after that night, when she sees me sleep even during day nap, she won�t bark.

If Munji is kept outside (although never) & she barks to see me. Based on her characteristic, I�ll not open the gate to let her in. I�ll just say "quiet" & then wait for her to shut-up & then close the curtain (but I�ll be standing behind the curtain). When she barks again, I�ll uncover the curtain & say "quiet" again. After a few times, I�ll try not to uncover the curtain but say "quiet" & see if she�ll respond to it. If she doesn�t respond to it, then I�ll have to uncover the curtain to say it again. If she responded, then I�ll just go into my bedroom & say "quiet" from the window. So, everytime when she barks, I�ll just say "quiet" from my room & she�ll learn that I won�t come out even if she barks & that she'll learned to comply to my voice only even I'm absent. In time, she won�t barks for me anymore. Based on Munji characteristic, this will work for her very fast. For a standard/general method, maybe you�ve to ask for a more professional person such as Derickok/Leopui, etc?

Hi Cecilia,

Tks for the advise, will try your method on the curtain one!!!

Yesterday bought a muzzle for her and planning to put it on when she bark in the morning Mad

So I tried it on, guess what?? she was so scared!! Maybe never see nything like that b4.

Well today she only start barking at 7.00 am..thats ok for me, lets see tomoro Tongue

Actually my purpose is not putting the muzzle whole nite, it only to let her know that if she bark b4 the time for attention, then I'll put it on..

i am evelyn here , i had the similiar problem with you, i bought my 6 weeks old shih tzu back, and for this 2 night i cant sleep at all, she keep on bark in teh night, while i am staying in apartment... so i ahve no choice and bring her to sleep with me in my room. but she still making lots of noise.

so i am wondering what is MUZZLE?

guess i could relate to your problem here. coz when i brought dewey back at 8 weeks old, he also bark and whine the whole nite.....(btw, dewey is now a 3 1/2 mth old bichon shihtzu mix....)

I guess they cry in the night because they are still not used to your house... it's a new environment to them....

On his first night home, none of us got much sleep(me, my hubby and Dewey). The second night the same & me n my hubby were grouchy the whole coz of lack of sleep. So in the end at night, I will put Dewey into his cage which i place in the kitchen with his toys and a rug and off the kitchen lights. I will then roll up some newspapers. Whenever he starts to whine or bark, I will hit the roll up newspapers on the floor or against the cage and said "Quiet" in a stern voice. And he will keep quiet for maybe about 1/2 hour to 1 hour, then he will start again. I consistently do the same thing for about 2 nights and after that it was allright. He understands then that when i put him into the crate and off the lights it's time for him to go to sleep.

But do bear in mind that dogs dun like to soil their sleeping places and usually young pups can't hold their pee and poo for a very long time. So sometimes when they make noise, they are actually telling you that they need to be let out to do their business....

The way I use to solve this problem might seem cruel and you may not agree with it. But it works for me! Dewey is still as manja as ever!

thanks for ur reply. ok i will try to train her again today...

i just hope that she will not make noise whenver i have to go out and she have to be at home alone... (as so worried that my neighbour comaplin to managment then i will sure lost her, as i staying in apartment)

what does soil tehir places mean??? issit i must trained them to sleep at only 1 place.??

hi,

It may be good if a radio is placed in the area & turn on for her leisure.. so, she wont feel bored . Most importantly, put some chew toys in its crate.

You may buy an auto-timer to control the on/off of the radio.
