As dog owners and their pets streamed into Central Park in Bandar Utama, Petaling Jaya by the thousands on a recent Sunday morning, one might have been forgiven for thinking that he was in Doggy Heaven. The inaugural Malaysian Dog Olympics attracted the participation of more than 3,000 dogs and nearly 4,000 spectators.

Organised by Puppy.com, The Malaysia Dog Olympic Day was one of the Internet community portal's major events for the year. The Internet community portal also works as a hobby website purely dedicated to dogs and includes forums for dog owners to exchange information on dog-related issues and currently has more than 15,500 members nationwide.

Dogs that attended the event were encouraged to socialise.
Speaking during the event, Puppy.com founder Khoo Boo Gee said the event was to promote a more social lifestyle among dog lovers and their pets and also to introduce a line of popular dog sports.

“Purina, our main sponsor, and we want dogs to live happy and eat healthy and the Dog Olympics is a great way to start. We also hope to see more responsibility among pet owners and, hopefully, a closer bond would be forged from such a special event,” said Khoo.
