Re: [Amanda85] Pacco's weave pole. [In reply to] Can't Post

Looks pretty cool. Seems a bit tall but still ok 4 training. Is d base (ie. bottom horizontal pole) heavy enuf 2 hold d obstacle in place? Dun really matter if K9 is a polite weaver like Russell, but if dog barges thru like Groovy, den d whole obstacle may wobble all over d place. U may hv 2 place bricks on it or put sand/wieghts in d base pole 2 hold it steady.

So starting homemade agility training...or hv u guys bn training all d while. Best to hv 2 or 3 hurdles (made out of d same PVC pipes) as well 4 variety.

How's Paco taking to d weaving action? Tongue

Re: [Amanda85] Pacco's weave pole. [In reply to] Can't Post

Can start with at least 6 poles lah. 2-3 poles mayb too short, just warm up only den hv 2 cool down already Tongue. Stools, broom n playground equipt is good 4 practising jumps, watever dat works 4 u guys. Know dat she runs pretty fast. How is she with d jumps n does she read ur commands/signals well?

U r pretty brave coz Tmn Jaya hs lotsa peeps who dun exactly like dogs.

oh....taman jaya is my territory mah.......i live there for 21 years......Laugh

pacco seldom got d offleash chance actually......coz she'll run wild......so mostly jumps r with leash.....

while @ home, i'll use d playing rope to guide her..... but whenever she did a jump, she wan a treat...

so if no treat 4 her, no jump 4 me....Mad

later she'll ended up playing by herself @ d garden.....Pirate

n last week during jt, i brought along her favourite toy.....

when i throw it, she did chase 4 it....but then later got distracted by yen yen......pacco dumps her ball @ d side n start chasing around wit others....Crazy

wat is so fun about playing wit other dogs??!?!

any idea of how 2 make myself more interesting??

Wow Amanda,

I miss this post, the weave poles look great I think different dogs are different like russell I started of 4-5 poles but jojo I started of only 3 poles and she took longer to learnt the basic. Initially she felt so frustrating for all those 'in' n 'out' and just lie down there took a long rest each time she finished 3 poles..Pirate I m not sure if the slanted methods work for pacco but it doesnt work for my dogs, but u know your dog d best. Wink I m sure your patient training pacco will manage to weave very soon.

to make yourself interesting i guess sometimes our tones of speaking quite important too... u know la sometimes our dogs got hearing problems so i normally speak louder.. ho ho ho

Ha ha Cool, v've never seen such a polite weaver till v met Russell as well. If d poles r a little flexible at d base, den its gvs an even smoother weaving action.

Keep trying. Shirley hs some good tips on getting Pacco back on track.

She seems pretty fast n comfortable with d jumps. Just need to b familiar with d other obstacles as well. Wink

Re: [Nat&Latte] Pacco's weave pole. [In reply to] Can't Post

depends on the material. i made mine from PVC pipes...so is rather cheap...around RM30 for 6 poles length
