Doberman Can't Post

Hi, I am new here. A pet shop wanted to offer me a doberman pinscher for RM 350, male, 5 moths old, vaccinated, no cert. Can anyone tell me is this a good price?

Hi PGK,

Just read your thread and I do not think you got an answer at all. RM350.00 is awfully cheap but a Dob is dog that is very demanding so you need to ask yourself :

1. Why is the dog so cheap? (No cert, some are charging at least RM1,000.00) From a breeder you may even be able to get with cert for a little over RM1,000.00 and you are likely to see the mother and there you can judge the likely temperament your pup will have.

2. Why so big and still at the pet shop?

To consider: temperament, very important

My opinion is stay away as there is a very likely chance you will regret getting it.

I agree with PSY. I bought one of my dogs cheap too. While he was a pup he had no health issues. At 10 mths old problems started arising. What I saved buying him is costing me way more in vet bills (the total is in the thousands so far)

Re: [leecy] Doberman [In reply to] Can't Post

I have got the dog home. He is healthy, playful and active. Actually I am not v sure if he is pure doberman breed. I brought him to a vet and the vet also can't tell. He looks exactly like doberman but smaller in size.

Someone bought him from the pet shop at RM1200 when he was a puppy. Few months later he was resold to the shop cos the owner went oversea. Then he was sold to another person at RM700. The person stays in a intermediate terrace house which has two malay neighbour at both side. Then he got complaint from the malays. The dog again been surrendered back to the shop.

When i first saw the dog, he was in a small cage which didn't allow him to have space to stand straight. Poor thing. The shop first wanted to sell me at RM600 and i managed to bargain to RM350.

I actually keep another dog at home. She is a mongrel that i adopted from an animal shelter. Now both dogs have become good friends.

I in fact do not mind wheather the dog is pure breed pedigree or not. I just like dogs and want to give them a good home. But because I am staying in a small house so it doesn't allow me to keep many dogs. Luckily my immediate neighbour is a Singaporean Malay so they don't really care.

Re: [PSY] Doberman [In reply to] Can't Post

Yes, I have brought the dog home. He is active, healthy n playful.

Coz d price was cheap n i also did supect that he might be a sick dog, that's y the pet shop sell it for low price. Therefore before i dicided to buy him over, I went to the pet shop several times and quietly check his behaviour, check his pee n poo n found all r ok. I saw the pet shop helper let the dog kissed her lips. If he is sick, i m sure she will not let the dog do this to her, right?

This dog was actually sold to 2 diff owners before me. The 2nd owner couldn't stand his barking n got complaint from the malay neighbours. When he came to me, he still like to bark a lot, but i notice that it is becoz he wants attention. He feels jeolous with my d other dog. But i have handle him well, sayang him first when i reach home, feed him first n walk him out first. Luckily my d other mongrel dog is d bo chap type n she is ok with d doberman.

The only headache that i got from him is he likes to pee everywhere. U have any good suggestion in how to get rid of his this bad habit?

Thank you PSY.

I think it will take some time to train him up. I always tell myself must be patient to him. This dog is not like my d other mongrel, she is more obedient.

Will post up some of his photo to share with you later.

Thank you once again.

Re: [PGK] Doberman [In reply to] Can't Post

HI,

Thanks for the photo. It certainly has markings of a dob and from the picture the ears are the only things that do not look like a dob. If it is uncrop then it is not correct but if it is cropped then you need to bind it up.

Most important is that you seem to be very happy with it from uyour posting and that is important.

All the best and keep in touch thru this thread.

The vet says is a kind of parasite infec. The pet shop owner says he is allegic to the food i gave. I gave him eukanuba lamb n rice dog food. Now change to eagle pack holistic chic food. Hope that he will recover soon.

i like the dogs photo in the forum, are those your dogs? They look v obedient. how u train them ?

Hi, I too think it is parasites as it did not have it before you were away. Do hope the food work out too. Yes, those dogs are mine, well at least the Doberman and Weimeraner. The GR, am part owner. Have another two, a GSD and Dane mix. The three in the photo are trainned for obedience trial the other two are just trained. Seriously, if you wish to know more on food supplements give me a call, I do not sell them but you 'll be surprise what you can get off the shelf and is great for your dog. Anyway, all the best.
