Man gives up suicide bid for love of his dog Can't Post

KUALA LUMPUR: A man who was apparently thinking of ending his life, gave up his suicide bid when he was told that his beloved pet dog was about to die.

His affection for the dog surely ran deep. Earlier, he remained unmoved despite rescuers trying to coax him by saying that his wife and children would suffer if he leapt to his death.

The drama took place on Saturday when the 40-year-old man wanted to jump off a flyover bridge in Jalan Kuching near the Segambut roundabout.

Members of the public alerted the police and the Fire and Rescue Department. Despite their attempts to persuade him that he should get off the yet-to-be completed bridge, the man refused.

A Fire and Rescue Department spokesperson said even when they told him that his wife and children would suffer if he jumped off the bridge, he seemed unaffected.

Later, the 15 rescuers found his black dog which was inside his Proton Waja with all the windows up.

“That’s when we got the idea of tricking him to get off the flyover bridge by telling him that the dog was suffocating inside the car.

“On hearing that his pet might die, the man began crying. We managed to persuade him to get down from the bridge within an hour,” he said.

A police spokesman said that earlier this week, the man had lodged a police report alleging that the construction company where he was working as a clerk had sacked him without giving a valid reason.

During the suicide bid, the man had also asked to see the police inspector who was the investigating officer of his case.

I saw the news as well in the newspaper. It shows that dog has a strong relationship with their owner.

i saw this at "The Star" too. it is true dogs can hold an important position in our heart. those who view rearing a dog is dirty, a burdan, waste money are actually those who never own a dog before or simply dont know how to raise a dog properly.. Unsure
