You see, once a dog is subjected to an injection (no matter what is being injected), there is this chance of developing an allergic reaction. On our part, it is difficult for us to weigh both the advantages and disadvantages of giving the injection. That is why your vet should come into the picture and explain to you thoroughly and help you to make your decision. Always check with your vet.
As far as I know, since you take your three boys for jungle trekking, the ultimate vaccination for your dogs would be the 10 in 1 and rabies vaccine. So far, in Klang Valley region, it had been a long time since the last report of rabies. Therefore it is as a precautionary measure. Secondly, the 10 in 1 vaccine has 4 types of Leptospira organism protection. One of the ways how Leptospira is transmitted is through the urine of infected animals, your dogs have the possibilities of picking up the disease in one of your outings. 6 in 1 vaccine has only two types of Leptospira. The homologous protection of Leptospira means that if the dog is vaccinated against 2 types of Leptospira, protection is against these two types only. Therefore, the more the better. Furthermore, this is a zoonotic disease ie. it can be transmitted to human being.
At the end of the day, you may want to ask yourself two questions.
Any harm if the dogs were overvaccinated (giving unnecessary vaccines) ??? Maybe yes, maybe no.
Any harm if the dogs were undervaccinated (no protection against some deadly diseases) ??? Definitely yes.
