Remember a member plf from our forum, looking for a GSD puppy dog? He took the trouble and had the courtesy to call me and asked if I could assist him in finding a reasonable puppy. My reply was, I have lost touch on GSD for quite a number of years and my knowledge on the present bloodline may not be up to date. However, the basic knowledge is still with me and if that is acceptable to him I am willing to help. We visited a bona fide breeder in Seremban, because this breeder has a son of this Malaysian Grand Champion Zanto (the dog that is worth RM250.000.00) for sale. Base on the assumption that the sire is Zanto, we drove all the way to Seremban. The puppy is 5 months old, shy, nervous and has curly coat. One look, at it, we were out faster than spending a penny in public loo! The following evening, we went to Klang, Jalan Meru and met and saw a ‘specialised’ GSD breeder in effect a high-class puppy miller under disguised. There were 2 puppies offered for sale, a 4 months old complete with almost everything and a 7 weeks old puppy which did not have tattooing nor any documents to substantiate its parentage. The selling price for both puppies was RM1800 and RM1600 respectively with only RM50 reduction. Plf was impressed with both puppies but I was not. I checked both puppies over for plf and realised that the older one at 4 months do not have any testicles. They were hiding upstairs and with cases such as this no vet could perform a miracle to correct it. And certainly I could not allow plf to spend RM1800 to buy a eunuch at birth! The 7weeks old puppy was excellent in temperament, bone structure, markings and would have been a good bet, But where is the tattoo and where are the papers? mating certificate? I was in no mood to ask the puppy all these particulars, as after all he is too young to understand. We left the puppymill about 7.30PM and plf called the puppymiller the following morning 9.30AM and was told that both puppies were sold. If any body with any common sense would believe the puppymiller is doing such good business, good luck to you. Well plf is still without a GSD puppy but he hasn’t been cheated and con. This I think we, as members of this forum should help each other in whatever way we could.
