Re: [eugene] Vaccination and heartgard issue [In reply to] Can't Post

hi, will it safer if i give heartgard earlier? my puppy now is only 2 month, is that ok i give her heartgard now as i ask the vet it say good to give it earlier. The vet say it ok to give from 8 week old, but not so sure whether to give or not.
Another thing is I saw that Heartgard Plus already include the deworn thing, is that mean if I take Heartgard Plus then i not need to take deworm pill?

You still need to give her a broad-spectrum deworming agent because the active ingredients in heartgard are only effective against the heartworm and a couple of others.

Start the heartgard tablet when you pup is 5 month old.

You still need to deworm your pup regular even you give heartgard monthly.

Chris, regarding the heartgard tablet, is it suitable for any puppies? It must be given monthly? How if i accidentally miss one month, will it bring any side effects? May i know what is the brand of the tablet.. Thx ^^

If you study the life-cycle of the heartworm and the way the ivermectin in heartgard works, it will become obvious that you only need to give the dog the heartgard thingy only once every two months.

hi,

from wat the vet told me, if u feed heartgard plus, then u no need to deworm your dog d unless you notice that there is worm in the stool, then you might just need to treat for that particular type of worms....if everythg is okay...u only need to feed heartgard plus to the dog and no need deworm.

but for heartgard, you will need to deworm every 3 mths too...

Wait you see your dog stool got worms I think your dog malnutrition liao LOL

Heartgard do include some ingredient to kill some worm, NOT ALL WORM. So we still need to deworm our furkid!
