I used to have 2 westies but no more. Tutu died in 2002 and Gus-Gus died last year. They are the world's most wonderful personalities. Where r you? Can I meet your Westies? PM me with your email address and I can email you a pic of my Westies and we can chat more about Westies.

Nice to meet you guys here.

I'm in UK Birmingham now and I'm having a Westie Girl -- Bonnie. I've just got her for about 3 weeks ago. I'm from Malaysia and will be back to Malaysia one day. I'll bring her back along as I knew that I can send her aboard. So if there is any dog Westie in Malaysia, so we can breed as so many dogs' lover are looking for this breed. Good Idea? Sly

Hi everyone!

I'm Suven and I am very interested in buying/adopting/whatever a westie but it seems to be very harad to find one in KL hey... I'm currently in Oz now.. but me n my bf are thinking of getting a dog for our next anniversary.. so i thought it'll be a good idea to start 'researching' now.. hehe...

how much is one roughly and are there any breeders in Malaysia, preferably near KL/PJ area.. or even near Pahang (I live in Genting, not the resort.. but somewhere near Awana).. so yeah.. any info would be greatly appreciated... =)

Thinking of it... but not so soon lah.. still studying abroad... might return to Malaysia next Sep or so... but bf might get one n take care of it alone first (kasihan ya) so if want also have to wait till i go bck for holiday at the end of the year.. (2 weeks time) currently just doing some research how the price, the type and so on.. but thanks for the info... might go have a look if still available when i get back in 2 weeks time..

westies...very lovely character. kinda stubborn some days...but they are so endearing that you fall so deeply in love with them as much as they do with you...very devoted furkids.

saw your thread (i'm so late) under jt...a terrier especially a westie would love the trek...never mind the muddy look at the finish line...they are so curious that you'll have tonnes of fun together.

just keep a good eye on her skin and ears. they are quite prone to ear probs due to their short ear canals. make sure you keep her ears nice and dry.

How old is your westie?

mine is 1 yr+, a female. I just got it recently. now she is so attached to us. now she insists to sleep in my room and the same corner beside my bed.

Sometime when she is boring, she will wake me up by licking my hand at the mid night!!

I found she has a good brain, very inteligent.

I would like to bring her to the JT, but I found that she is not fit yet. She get tire easily, and when she do, she will ask to be carried. She is at 6.5kg, for short distance I got not problem, but for the whole trek of 1 hour, I will end up with broken arm.

So have to keep her fit first.

colby is old...with his daddy. in his teens...hehehe capable to be my grandpa LOL.

westies can be boisterous....and can have very good stamina with proper long walks (which they love most) (and can go for walkies almost every minute...of course they drop dead when they reach home and recover within an hour or so).

be careful as she is still young. always keep a westie on a leash...the terrier nature of them make them....sometimes spring off...dangerous when there are cars or humans around. what you do not see...the westie gal sees and hears and smells them real well. remember that westies were originally bred for hunting.

keep her weight in check...watch her food. they can balloon a fair bit with too much food and insufficient exercise.

hmmm....what's your email or nick on msn...we can chat further. i can pass you a book (you can keep it...) on westies...its a good handbook especially when you're new with westies.

oh...let's meet up for jt when jt season starts again...no worries, we can always take a shorter path or i can carry her...hehe my shih tzu kiddo shalom now weighs 9kg and fancies being carried by mummy when we're out in the hot sun. i'll love to meet her and you.

I read somewhere there are westie make in to 18 years, the love btw them and its owner must be so great.

Ya, you are right, we must keep her on leash. She has no sign of run away, but when she is attracted to some thing, she will go for it.

I experienced once during the CNY, I brought her back to Penang, at my grandma house, that time she was eating, of the suddend one cock crow behind her. Without hesitation, she spring off run after the the cock! and I almost failed to track her. Luckily that area is squatter area and seldom got car moving there.

That was only 2 weeks after I got her from the breeder. The first time I saw her hunting instint.

Sorry Ern ! Was having some trouble with the Explorer fer D past few days,

I paid bout 3K + fer my dear furkid ! But it's not bout D $ that counts in d end, coz bringing him up from D moment I brought him home till now, we've no regrets.....WHere did u get urs anyway?

He's behaving quite well nowadays...sometimes may get very cunning, & yet stubborn...But all in all, we love him soo much...Does ur westie know much tricks by now? Mine is still learning roll over...

It's true that Westies are really prone to skin & Ear problem...so keep Both of ur eyes closely on ur furkid..My westie is now only bout 5 kgs at 8 months old, a little underweight, do u think so?

hmmm...19th march...f1 weekend and also the sun motorhunt. i doubt that jt could take place. but hey..would be good to meet you then during jt.

westies are very amazing...the more you know them the more you love them..they really grow on you.

her hunting instincts can even include going after frogs! so do keep an eye.

colby was not doing too well on beef...so we kept an eye on him and beef..we check his treats too. but cute boy loves his brocolli. so whenever we're doing western, he'll get his share of steamed brocolli!

Yours is about 8 mths, then I would guess you got it from Ikano or some where in bandar Utama. If his BOD is 18/07/2004 and imported from Australia then I would like to tell you that my relative is having his sister.

We call her Bebe. Westie is very rare in Malaysia so to the source.

If your is really Bebe's brother, maybe we can make an arrangement for a reunion meeting.!!

Bebe is in Penang.

compare to mine, Yuan Yuan who is 5 months older, Bebe is very small [I mean the size]. Yuan Yuan is at 6.5Kg now. She is learning the very basic command "SIT". She has the potential to walk with her 2 legs. that is what she is doing when she see me after work, she like to jump on me, and if I reverse when she is approaching, she will continue to move forward.

yuan yuan now try to be our boss!

We mix chicken meat with dry food, so it takes some times. She will bark if we take a litter while.

Normally she sits beside us when we are watching TV show, just before sleep. That is also her original sleeping area. But now, around 10p.m. she will sit beside the staircase and refuse to enter that area. She is really to go to our room, sometimes she even enter the room without waiting for us.

Yuan Yuan do not appreaciate fruits or vege, maybe she have not used to it yet. we will slowly introduce to her. Brocolli? maybe we should try.

Ya, I read from internet, that beef is not good to westie. For the dry food we choose Lamd and rice.

The guy atually impoted 4 siblings, 2 male 2 female. It is a challenging task to look for the other pair. When you took Recca home ? just recently or in September? from your avatar it looks like sept, correct me if i am wrong.

Yuan Yuan like the steamed chicken so much. I dont like chicken breast, but that is the wonderful food for her, a lot of flesh. As to human food, do you mean cooked food? if yes, then better not. We normally add salt and other stuff to our food, tis may cause shedding to any dogs.

Are you from Penang? near my hometown, me tto go back only one or twice a year.

jt = jungle trekking at Tmn Pendidikan. Westie should like it, I suppose. THey were breed for hunting originally.

Cant wait for Bebe and Recca reunion. I wander whether they know they are sibling when they meet?

Yuan Yuan have another sister with my relative, they are so happy when they meet after separated for few days.

As to training, still considering.
