Yes, very hardy breed and it is also called a ship dog coz sailors used to have this dog to control the mouse population and as companions......

Yes, it is a spitz breed and they are very high in energy... they also heard but they are more popularly known as ship dogs..... that's part of their history....

hard to find in Malaysia coz no one has thought of importing the breed here..... Not many has thought of this breed coz they mainly are focusing on popular breeds... like 10 years ago, no one knows what's a Welsh Corgi or a Basenji..... Now there are a few registered Corgis and one Basenji in Malaysia.....

Schipperke are popular to some coz they are a bit like terries, they like chasing mice... on ships in the old days, this breed were kept on ships and tankers to control the mice population... the dogs will chase and catch the mice......so the ship always has a very low population of these rodents when the dog is on board, soem say the schipperke are better at catching mice than cats....

Spitz normally come in many colours according to breed.... Japanese Spitz is normally pure white with a smile, Finnish Spitz are orange to a brown.... Netherland Spitz are more of a wolfish grey or brown patern.... Schipperke is normally a dark grey( called blue) and pure black, no other colours wan..... and some Schipperke have docked tails....

My boxers have docked tails but I leave the ears natural coz the ears are more painful, when they dock dog's tails, it is done 3 days after birth so the puppies heal very fast from the surgery and pain and will not remember about it at all..... ears ah, has to be done when they are 3 of 4 months and the cropping can last for a painflu 2 months....

U mean ur dogs get that?

My pup docked his tail whenever he is scared of something. Like:guitar being played, the computer rolling chair and when he accidently hit is head on the car's engine..... Clumsy but he can still remember.

They ct the tails coz during the old days, the dogs have to have their tails cut off so they can move faster and have less injuries when hunting and so on.... now, people cut for fashion loh.....
