Stinky Baby Can't Post

My pug stinks! He's about 4 months old now and even though I bathe him every weekend, the smell still comes back! I tried cologne and powder but the smell comes back after these additives wear off. I am not sure whether pugs smell this way? Or perhaps the smell will go away after they grow older? Other than the smell, he is a very clean dog - knows where to do his "business" (well, most of the time anyway)and always keeps his sleeping area clean. Any remedies? Please help! Thanks!

When your pug stink even after regular bath, it it likely that his skin is having some problem such as bacteria infection or others. You may want to try to bath him using medicated shampoo and I find that MALASEB is a good effective medicated shampoo and I use it on all my Pug.

Hi Ying,

I think Bacticol is for flea and ticks.

Bonk,

Yoda used to stinks too Crazy because he has got sensitive skin & mange on his body.

So, i use malaseb, his condition has improved but still smell a little. maybe because his skin is not fully recovered yet.

If you are using malaseb, try to bath your pug twice a week ( the vet told me) and follow the instruction on the bottle.

Yep my dog had mange too last time and i also used Malaseb....he used to hv this stinky smell, especially the underneck and underarm area and the skin was a bit oily and damp....check and see whether your dog's body has any dampness to it, especially the folds of the skin and is he scratching a lot? Not that your dog has mange but any sort of fungal infection may cause the same symptoms.

Thanks for the advice! Baby seems to have a skin problem. There are small red spots on his body and he is scratching a lot. Just got a bottle of Malaseb. Hope this will help alleviate the problem.

Hi Ying,

Most VET will carry Bacticol. As for pet shop, some of them do carry some and they do not display it. I am not sure whether it is like Malaseb which is classified as poison and only carry by the VET.

Cheers

Malaseb really works! Now Baby is less stinky. Bathe him last week and he does not smell like last time. I guess he does have a bit of skin problem after all. Thanks guys!
