Hi Jeff,

The own 2 female and 1 male. The male is 2 years old. The female is 1 year old and 2 year old respectively.

I train them using the same basic teachings. Use newspaper. Hit their mouth when they start to bite. After the beating, be stern. They will learn it eventually that they are wrong.

By the way, where are you from? If you have any other questions, feel free to call me. My number is 012-5162620.

Cheers,

Andy Chan

Re: [wjeff] Inexperience to train my dog [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi~ Nice to meet you here!

I used newspaper for house-breaking training, so i won't used the papers to beat my . I don't want him to "hate" the newspapers. Also, since Mack is a golden retriever, retrieve is his instinct, he will bite on anything and "retrieve" to me but never have things torn into pieces (luckilyWink).
For training sessions, i think "be patient" is the key.
is kind of "weird" (i think...) he likes to be TAUGHT. If i beat him up, he won't listen. But if i talk to him and really tell him what should and shouldn't do, he seems understand. He'll sit and listen to me until i told him "okay, don't do it next time." Then he'll let me shake his hand like the lesson is over and I'm not angry at him anymore. Then only he'll walk away. I found that if you really spend time to TALK to them, they will listen and understand EVENTUALLY.
(just need some firm and strong voice)

Cool Hi,

I can't use the same technic as you used b4. I scroll up a newspaper and hit his mouth whenever he's bites thing, but it doesn't work he hate a newspaper and bite it also at that time. I just want him to become a obedient only.... not than other thing Frown

Jeff

Re: [wjeff] Inexperience to train my dog [In reply to] Can't Post

helo~!

my dog used to snap at the newspaper that we use to dicipline her. What we do is, we will hit the floor somewhere near her and shout no. If she snaps back then we'll slightly hit her mouth with it. She might get angrier at the newspaper by now, so we will hit a little harder till she'll retreat abitUnimpressed by now, whenever we roll the newspaper up, she'll stop doing wat she is not suppose to be doing.

hope this helpsSmile
