Hi from NZ Can't Post

Hi, I'm Tarn and my new love is 8wk old Chester, a Rotweiler (is that how you spell it?!) X with some Huntaway and Lab thrown in as well. Never had a puppy before so it is quite exciting.
We live in New Zealand and think this forum is fantastic, haven't seen anything like it closer to home.

Anyway, we are travelling domestically very soon and I need to purhase a travelling crate, BUT how big does it need to be? How much room does Chester need to travel approx. 2-3hrs at a time on a plane? I realise he's going to grow out of it very soon but that's not a concern, I can get a bigger one at a later date. Can anyone help me? I would be most grateful.Smile

Hi Tarn,

Welcome to the forum. Great to have someone from NZ on board.

Read this link for some summary of size of travelling kennels.
http://www.k9caterers.com/kennels.htm

For me, I will always use Vari Kennel that is is big enough that will allow my dog to change their resting position if they wish. In my case, the crate are also big enough to allow them to stand up straight.

Cheers

Hi Tarn, welcome to the forum! My mum has a dog called chester! he is a golden cocker pup, full brother to Luckey. Have fun travelling with your pup. AM sure you will find a suitable crate. will leave that advice to the other members...
