OK now i has got my ever first working gsd with me, he is now about 15 weeks old, sable in color, called name Bosco. He is the 100% czech product, both sire and dam are from the border patrol program of czech.
I plan to have him trained on schh if he turn out good, and now confirmed that he has got prey and extreme food drive and showing some civil aggression sign......will train some basic motivational OB during his puppyhood based on operant conditioning and serious training or protection will only happen after 12 months of age or older.
That is all for now.....stay tuned........

- @15 weeks, Bosco showing is defence drive, and this is not occassionally or once in a while, he is really puppy from hell...........hyper, like to jump, def bark at stranger.........and more......
- He is about to get the idea of getting food from me or his foster parents is not free or nothing comes free. He need to sit in a perfect position in order to get his food served.

Bosco looks chubby~ I think it's hard to keep Bosco growing from puppy, for such a breed, soon.... he'll turn into a little adult... and i hope to see his chubby face before he turned into those drive-nerve-drive-nerve's look.

Some updates....
ok Bosco know the idea of :-
1. He must sit right infront with proper position before he get the meal from me. while eating, he must stand and eat, if he sit or lay down, the bowl will be removed. Will prolong the sit from now on before he get his meal....after this, only eye contact he will get his meal........
2. the Come is clear in his head now.....need to polish further to get the right away COME.

Bosco know a better 'sit' now....and can read hand signal. I find it using hand signal to train a dog is easier thatn vocal. A praise as reward didn't quite work...as he is always crazy for food............

Boon,
Praise should be followed by reward. Use that more often and everytime u praise then he knows to expect a reward after praise. Then u can use intermittent rewards after praise. This will work when u cant have treets like during a trial where pet and praise will keep the attitude up.
Using food for now sounds like a good idea. Just dont go too fast until good understanding is achieved.

normally the dog is the good sign of knowing how smart the owner is in training too............ I just now a bit nia, still far to go.....
Credits should go to my sifu/friend/advisor/consultant...........he spend time to talk to me and make sure i get the idea of dog training and also from time to time remind me the basic concept of dog training...........
