For why dogs like to lick ... see the post above ... Dogs lick, taste and smell as part of they way of communicating and exploring the world ... sometimes its way to show submission ... sometimes when they lick themselves it is sign of nervousness or stress or tension ... many reasons ... Yeah...so many reasons and we are kept guessing. It would make life easier if they could tell us exactly why/what...I think they just wanna keep being mysterious. A bit of 'sern pei kerm'....
Well ... most dogs do try very hard to tell us as best they can ... but us people (being people) ... for all our so-called superior intelligence - we don't listen too well ...
We don't listen to what our dogs are trying to tell us ... and mostly it's our fault not the dogs ...
You are right! Sometimes humans don't actually really listen.
I'm trying my best to listen to my dog. When he wants something, he'll jump up and look at me. Then I have to ask him questions like, 'mumm, mumm?' or 'play?' or 'shi-shi?' and etc. If he jumps around to one particular questions, then I'll know what he wants. But sometimes it's so hard when all the questions I'd asked is not the right one. When this happens, I have to get up and see where he goes. But sometimes when my favorite TV show is on, it's quite susah a bit. But I always try my very best.
By the way, thanks for advises. I don't post my problems here but I check through all the threads to see which ones similar to mine and click it. I see all your advises are quite good and workable, at least for me and my dog. I'm just happy that Dome knows the basics.
