High all i have a Sarpei pup since i have had him hes being to the vet lots off times. He first went there for an eye infection. However that hasnt cleared up. Hes got infection thats resists antibotics.

Then the other day he just wouldnt move. We took him to the vet, the vet did blood tests and found that he has low iron, high insulin in blood, damaged liver, and isnt producing adrenaline. The vet has told us that this is a genetics problem. As he grows older he will have to be on insulin, iron, and hormone treatment. Just lost as to know what to do. Hes a great dog doesnt dig, chew, bark. Loves to play and loves the family. I have feed him raw chicken bones cooked meals, dog puppy food, vitamin c, eveing primrose oil. From the time we have had him.

Have you asked another vet for a second opinion?? Maybe there's help?

Thanks for your reply i have spoken to another vet today and hes going to look send the test results away to a specialist to determine what is the pups problem.

dont give up... have faith...a fren's pup once had distemper n vets recommend that they put it to sleep... but they didnt want to give up, n found a solution after all.. now the pup is really healthy...

Thanks all i have to say that hes looking healthy and thats the hard part is to think that we might have to put him to sleep when he looks so happy and cute. Anyway the vet is going to do some more test so ill post the results. I prayed for him which is a first for me. lol

oh.. i hope he will b fine..
u know a miraculous thing happened once when i said a prayer for my dogs.. The 3 had an adventure n got lost..i couldnt find them anywhere...searched from 3pm till 3am... then i got too tired n needed a shut eye..i said a prayer.. and just when i finished, a friend called and said they saw 2 of the dogs some few kms away from our place... i was thrilled... we found the other one in the morning with ease...

Good news rusty is doing well. I took him to a vet referal center. My vets test did so that he had some bad problems. however the test that they have done at the referal center shows he getting better by the day. We have him on anitbotics and are hopeing hes infection is going to clear up. So prayer does work thanks all for you replies. As a matter of fact the referal center couldnt find much wroung with him. Two days after our own vet said we may have to put him down.

Great to hear that Rusty is doing better now. I would never putting a dog to sleep until I'm convinced that it's better for the dog/pup to GO. Try to refer to more than 3 vets before deciding the option. If you are staying in KL or PJ or Klang, try this Vet in Brickfields. His name is Dr. Prem. My neighbour dog got tick fever until the dog can't eat or walk. Most of the vet said it's better for the dog to go but they hung-on to the hope that the dog can recover. Lastly, the spend a fortune (RM4k - RM5k) to safe that dog. That dog is doing fine now. That dog is just an ordinary dog (a mongrel). This thought me a lesson whether you really love your dog or not, irregardless of his breed. Love knows no boundaries including $$$$.

Hope that Rusty will recover completely ASAP.

my tyson oso has an infection on his tummy.. it has been there for awhile now.. but getthing worse it seems... hope he gets better n doesnt turn worse oso... Unsure

ya.. i think its a few months back.. cos that day my cousin came and she didnt notice they ran out when she came in.

tyson was traumatised by that incident cos they ran quite far n crossed busy roads.. (gawddd...)..when i found him.. he was afraid n couldnt recognise us and seem shocked...the next day they looked really solemn cos another member was missing n they knew they did something terribly wrong.. we didnt scold them when we found them... just hugged and comforted them ... popeye was normal.

harvey was happy to see us the next day but he was too tired i think.. got into car n slumped into seat... but he was so thrilled when he saw the 2 brothers.. wahh..so touching the reunion.. they were soo happy...happier than when they got treats...

now we keep close eye to the door whenever it opens n closes.. make them stay at far end of porch when gate opens, so we wont run them down, can see that they dont escape and have less time to dash out oso..

aiyahh.. me so chiong hei liao... hehehee.. sorri ah... it marks a historic place in me ma..keekee...

ohh... i went to search the neighbourhood..asked neighbours...called authorities .. my sis called her friends and asked them to keep an eye if they see them on their way home..(it was a Saturday)... i hunted till 3am..i was so exhausted my eyes cldnt open liao.. right after my desperate prayer, we got a call from a fren and said tyson is at the side of the highway abt 2km fr my place. We went to get him..popeye just appeared after tat.

We didnt suspect they would dare cross the main road and overlooked an area. So the next morning, we went to look ... asked ppl, and kept shouting for harvey. in case he could hear us..by the 4th call, a guy came up to us on a bike n said he saw a white furry dog and showed us where... seems a malay family found him by the hostel and gave him bread. dunno why he had a compter wire tied around his neck as though like a collar....

after tat we didnt even have to teach them not to go out.. they auto good boy liao... before tat..all the time he wants to try his luck (except 2 days ago... aisehh...)

oh......so popeye was following tyson and harvey just ran by himself... wow....close call....really really... and the malay family was good lah.even gave bread to harvey....some just chase dogs away...

i think they got scared themselves too..that's why never ran out anymore... but maybe they are starting to forget again.....heh.....so keep lots of eyes on them..

Wow, thank God you found your dogs... Mine never came back.. Actually my father's but I help out to take care of him... My other dog, also father's keep running out but always lucky to find him back... My father had been putting up lots of fencing and stuff but yet they are so clever to find a way out... My father so fed-up and put a bell on his collar.. Well this help you know... This you will always know where he's at.... He stil runs away but when I notice he is nowhere to be seen, I will call to him until he comes back or if this doesn't help, I will walk out to find him.. Yet, I am so worry that one day he never came back like the other one... I had lost a cat before too, nowhere to be found.. No matther how I lost my pet, death or ran away or stolen or have to be apart.. My heart really breaks... Until now I had never let go any of my pet that I lost of can never be together again(have to give up)... Sorry, just need to get it out... Fiona

I am so happy for you... I was so worry last whole week that I might have to put my dog down because he is old (10 years old).. He was so sick... The vet helped me alot.. Thank goodness... Now I am relieve... Fiona

hi fiona...

i understand your frustrations... if only we could speak dog language hor.. then easy la.. just tell them if they run out we whack their backside dont give them food.. heheee.. threaten them.... Laugh

i get fed up too cos they like to run out, even if they've had walks... but i think it could be good to train the dog to stay at a certain spot where you can see them when you leave the house? So you'll know if they r still there onot.. or tie them first and tell them NO..... slowly they will understand kua... Unsure

wahh.. they can squueeeze out any fence ah?? Harvey is alittle like that.. he always tries every possible way to escape... Mad

...but there r some fences that he simply can not conquer.. heheee... or if have to ..tie the dog up first lor...
