I love Salukis! Beautiful dogs who originated from the desert, like the Arabian horses... Does anyone know if there are Salukis here in Malaysia? To my knowledge, there aren't any, which is a real pity.

Speaking of which, what about greyhounds? I have little contact with people who own/are interested in dogs-- my biggest influence being my stepmom who has a(n annoying) shih tzu, boxer, and two miniature pinschers. I've taken a great liking to greyhounds and wonder if they're available in M'sia.. anyone?

Hi Tisha,
I agree with you. The Salukis are indeed beautiful, combining beauty and function with their sleek lines and graceful gait. There is one Saluki owner that I've met in K.L. He's an American expat here with that imported his Saluki and a Borzoi. He did take both of them to the Padang Merbuk sometime back.
The Saluki is so revered in his native middle east homeland that anything he catches, is considered "halal" to consume. This was told to me by a Sudanese friend.

Yea, greyhounds are beautiful too. At one point I had a really strong urge to adopt a ex-racing greyhound (the result of watching too much Animal Planet and National Geographic programs on those poor ex-racing greyhounds).
Arthur, were you able to see your friend's Saluki? If you did, then I envy you! lol. I've only seen them in pictures and on TV, but that's enough to fall in love with!

HI Tisha,
Yes, I did see the Saluki once. He bought them to the Padang Merbuk that Sunday evening. She's beautiful. Short coat type, creamy buff colour. Alas, he did not bring her again since.

Cream? I love that colour... Dangit... Hopefully I'll be able to own one in the future, along with a Doberman and German Shepherd, and maybe a greyhound, lol. One day...
