(HAPPY) tham [In reply to] Can't Post

It is great to know there are some Beagle owners here that I could write to and share some experiences. I did not regret bringing home HAPPY at all. As a Beagle, she is really pampered. She doesn't dig my garden not disturb my plants. Happy is great with Lucky (the cat) and they use to play together, night & day. Happy gives in when Lucky wanted to try her food. Happy will stand up for Lucky when my neighbour's dog barks at her. Sometimes, they sleeps together and they drink from the same water container. But when Happy plays with her cat friend, she is most of the time too clumsy and she sometimes sits on her. But they are really great pets. I love them. Lucky has her own room and Happy sleeps in my room. Does anyone out there share similar experiences with their dog and cat?

Yes! yes! yes! So good to hear another person owning a cat. I have 8 of them.

Wanted to get a dog but was afraid that my cats will "kill" him first.

Was it difficult to train them to live together? Did you nurture them since they were very young?

Welcome to the forum.

Re: [boon] (HAPPY) [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi, Happy has a friend by the name of TITAN (a lab too). Titan stays opp my house. Happy likes to play with him very roughly indeed but titan knowing his own strength and size suprisingly gave in to Happy and is very much on the look out as not to accidently hurt Happy. Well, who says animals can't understand. I believe at times they can surprise us in many ways...

Re: [Aivee] (HAPPY) tham [In reply to] Can't Post

Well, cats and dogs have with them instincts and tend not to get along well. But if you introduce/socialise them when they are young, they will eventually get along. But always supervice when introducing them or else they are bound to fight.
Like Happy, she was brought back when 4 months, then a friend gave me Lucky (the cat) and it was 1 year old. Lucky is extremely cautious adn always hissed at Happy. But during the first few days when the second animal comes in, make sure you show great care and love to the first one and always relay messages that you still will love it (as I had did to Happy) Then after about 2 weeks, they eventually get along very well and in fact they stand up for each other too when there is danger. But bare in mind, cats are much harder to train to get along with dogs. When they scratch, the impression will not be good from the dogs point of view. So be careful. Good news is Cats are extremely easy to housebreak than dogs.!!...
