Help...my dog has watery eyes Can't Post

Hi all,

I have a 5 months++ Chow Chow. When I brought her back 3 months ago, she had watery eyes on both side. My girlfriend and I consistently keep her eyes dry by wiping off the tears in fear of aggravated infections. After some time, she recovered.

The past two days, I notice somewhat same problem occur again. This time only on the left side of her eye. And this time it seems more severe as she could hardly keep her left eye open. A small area around her eyes are wrinkly and without hair. And probably due to the wetness, there's always sticky substance in her eyes, which I guess causing her problem to open her eye. I personally had a close inspection of her eye and did not notice any change of colour in the eye and no feverish on the eye. Occasionally I would notice her rubbing (looks more like scratching) her eye, probably it's itchy. I wiping off her tears as often as possible now. I'm thinking of getting some antiseptic eye drops for dogs (if there are such thing). Would that help? Could someone suggest me some preliminary cure for her before I bring her to a vet?

Thanks all, hope to get some help soon. It's sad to see her like that. Unsure

Cheers!
Cheers! Cool

hi there,Smile

first of all, welcome to the forum.

it could be some sort of allergy..pollen or dust or somehting like that might irritates your pup's eyes making them watery most of the time...as for the remedy,i'm not too sure myself. do consult your vet,kay..do keep us updated on her progress..

Re: [Ripper] Help...my dog has watery eyes [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi ...

If your dog is the one in the avatar ... (assuming that you have been trying to keep the eyes & fur around the eyes clean) then from the stain marks it does appear that your dog is tearing excessively ...

While some breeds to tend to tear more than others ... excessive tearing is an indication that something may be seriously wrong ...

Only attempt home remedies if you are sure there is no infection and the dog's eyes are watering from a localised and minor irritation ... Any other form of eye infection (bacterial or otherwise) should be attended to quickly or they tend to get worse.

If you are not sure - please take your dog to a good vet as soon as possible ...

Cheers Smile

Re: [surchinmy] Help...my dog has watery eyes [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi all,

Thanks for the welcome Laugh I'm not that new to here actually. I think this is my second or third forum post. I was there during the last puppy event in Central Park Bandar Utama. That's the first time I joing puppy.com.my event. I think the event was called Responsible Dog Ownership Day.

The dog in my avatar is my Chow Chow. Those stains are from her previous tearing. After she recovered from the tearing those stains were cleaned up, but too bad I haven't got time to take more photos of her. The tearing she has now is only on left eye.

Probably like you all said, it could be due to irritation from dust as she's shedding hair now. Anyhow, I'll take your advice and bring her to a vet. Anyone knows a good and afordable vet around Subang Jaya or Bukit Jalil area?

I'm really worried about her, but she doesn't seem to be sick at all. She's still chirpy and naughty as ever hahah....By the way, at what age normally does a Chow Chow change their hair? I read somewhere in the forum that during the stage of changing hair, dogs tend to shed rather excessively.

Thanks all, and have a wonderful day!
Cheers! Cool

Hi,

I would like to recommend you SHINY. My poodle and lab had the similar problem but now the red stain is gone.

You may like to try this out and you can get it from vet or pet shop. The pet shop in seri kembangan or the vet in old klang road are selling.

This is a type of Orange colour liquid to be feed daily direct into their mouth. I guess is very sweet and my doggies love it very much Blush

Good luck and hope that your furkid will get better soon!

Hi Melissa,

Thanks a lot for your suggestions, I really appreciate it. How do you feed your poodle with SHINY? Do you mix it in their food?

By the way, can you describe the condition your poodle used to have? What are the signs of aggravations? Just need to know so that I know the tell-tale signs of aggravations.

Oh yeah, what's the name of the pet shop and vet you recommended? I'm living nearby both places, I may drop by there.

Thanks a lot Melissa. A million thanks. My Arwen owes you one Laugh
Cheers! Cool

Hey

Shiny comes with feeding tool. You just need to suck the liquid out and feed directly into doggies' mouth. Since the dogs love it so much, you have no problem in feeding it Tongue.

Do you have a private e-mail address? I can send you my ugly Cherry's photo so you can see how she looks like last time.

Hi Melissa,

You can send to this e-mail address: marshyung@hotmail.com

I hope my dog's problem is the same as yours. At least then I know there's an easy cure. How long does it take for your dog to recover after starting to take Shiny?
Cheers! Cool

Hi Melissa,

Thanks for the photo you sent me. Cherry's a very beautiful dog. Good to hear that she's all well now. My dog's current situation is more severe. I would be bringing her for vaccination somewhere this week, so, probably would try to get some free consultation from the vet.

I'm staying in Bukit Jalil. By the way, by any chance you are staying in U-Lek Cheras? I just remembered I know someone by the same first and last name as yours staying in U-Lek. Smile
Cheers! Cool

Hi Ripper

Actually, I'm staying quite near you i.e. Seri Kembangan. Perhaps you had seen me hanging around Taman Bukit Jalil Tongue!

You have a nice chow too especially the unique colour. I hope her eyes could cure soon!

Hi Melissa,

Looks like I got the wrong Melissa Chong...hehehe...

My chow's -- Arwen's her name :) -- a cream coloured chow. I was told that cream coloured and dark blue coloured chows are rare.

You bring your poodles to Bukit Jalil park? That's nice Smile After I vaccinated Arwen, I would be bringing her to the Commonwealth Park. Arwen got so exited in car rides that she barks at every car that passes by...hahahah...so, don't think I'll be bringing her to Bukit Jalil park.

By the way, I went to Pet's Wonderland in Subang Parade last night to look for a bottle of Shiny. They don't have it. Asked an attendant there, he doesn't even know what it is. Hmmm....
Cheers! Cool

My gigi too loves to go to park park. Every time if I say park park, she will act crazy and back non-stop, jumping here and thereCrazy.

If you are staying near by bukit jalil, you can look for Shiny from Animal Polyclinic in old klang road or the vet in seri kembangan or the pet shop called everyone's pet shop in seri kemgangan. These are the places that I know so far is selling SHINY.

Good luck!

Hahah...your gigi's very cute. Thanks a lot for all the pet shop and vet names. You're a really helpful person. Angelic

I would probably try the Everyone's pet shop in Seri Kembangan. By the way, is there a particular pet shop or vet that you prefer nearby?
Cheers! Cool

Re: [Ripper] Help...my dog has watery eyes [In reply to] Can't Post

You're most welcome!

You mean consultation? The one in old klang road that I would prefer. That clinic has a few vets, make sure you see Dr See or Dr Lim (Dr Lim seldoms there).

I know Dr See for three years and he is a good vet Tongue. If you happen to see him, just tell him that Melissa from Seri Kembangan introduced his big name to you, hehehe.

But but but, if you are talking about the SHINY, you can get it from Everyone's Pet. But pls make sure you ask Jasline, the owner of this shop or the adult attendant (small boy won't know it Crazy).

Are you going to the KK's gathering?

Re: [melissa] Help...my dog has watery eyes [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi Melissa,

Thanks for the recommendation again. I'll be sure to mention your big name to Dr. See hehehe. By the way, I've got great new! Arwen's eye has recovered. No more watery eyes. Currently her eyes looked like your cherry in the picture, and getting better day by day. She recovered naturally a few days ago, before I even got a chance to bring her to a vet or get Shiny for her Smile

I might be going to the KK gathering, if I can wake up...hehehe. If I would be there, I should be arriving around 10pm. Unfortunately, Arwen's not coming, as she haven't got vaccinated yet, so, might not be a very good idea to bring her outing. Hopefully, if she's obedient enough, I would be bringing her to the January gathering. Not for the competition of course, she's not that obedient yet. Just to let her socialise around, and see what other obedient dogs can do....hehehe...

So, hopefully I would be seeing you in KK gathering tomorrow. Take care!
Cheers! Cool
