There will only be one Judge for the show and hence we expect the show will be long (full day). We look forwards to your Tambun Biscuit for lunch.

Webmstr Khoo,

Have emailed the map to your hiley.com address together with the instructions. Hope this helps.

Rdgs Arthur

PS. I heard if there are many too many entries, they might get another local judge to assist. If not, it will be, like you said, a long day for us.

Hiya, how many dogs do each of you usually bring to these dog shows? and do you ahve one handler per dog, or you have to handle many dogs at once?

And how many classes do you usually enter per dog? Or are dog shows like world cup - i.e. knock out competitions?

Re: [arthur] 196th MKA All Breed Championship Show

<As usual, Map provided by Arthur>

Venue is Ryan Cultural Hall, Jalan Tun Perak.
General directions:
1. Get off the North-South Highway at the exit NORTH-IPOH.
(This would be the 2nd exit after the toll for those coming from KL)
2. Follow directions for Jalan Kuala Kangsar heading towards Ipoh
town center.
3. Looking at the map, go along Jalan Tun Abdul Razak towards
the Main Bus station.
4. Once you pass the Main Bus station on the right, follow the road
till you come to a roundabout. Turn right (or 3 o'clock) towards
Jalan Lahat. Follow the road, passing Anglo Chinese School on the
right till you come to a rail-road crossing.
5. Immediately after the rail-road crossing, take the 1st right turn
and you should see Ryan Cultural Hall nearby. (It's located behind
the Frasier and Neave (F&N) Building.

Thanks Arthur for the map and description.

Re: [luckey] 196th MKA All Breed Championship Show

Query : Hiya, how many dogs do each of you usually bring to these dog shows? and do you ahve one handler per dog, or you have to handle many dogs at once?

Ans: Minimum one!Tongue Sometimes, 2-3 entries. One handler per dog is ideal, can handle two if shorthanded, provided the judging doesn't clash together. Cannot be at two places at once (though at work, I wish this was possible!)

Query:And how many classes do you usually enter per dog? Or are dog shows like world cup - i.e. knock out competitions

Ans:At least one class, at most 3 - depending on the age of the dog. As for dog show competition system , please do a search posting keyword "dog show" or "points system".

Re: [luckey] 196th MKA All Breed Championship Show

How many class that you enter will also depend very much on the age and condition of your dog. For example, if you are entering a young puppy for the conformation show and knowing that the puppy is still not fully grown up and has no chance against those adult in the same breed, you will not enter your puppy in the Open Class. In such case you will mostly enter the puppy class, maiden class (if your puppy has not won a first place before) and Malaysian Bred Class if your dog is locally bred. Hope the above help.

Webmaster,

Sorry to say, the bottom half of the map is still missing! Maybe its my browser, would another user care to confirm? You should be able to see Jalan Tun Perak/Main bus station on the bottom right corner of the map. Right now it is only showing Yuk Choy school.

Re: [arthur] 196th MKA All Breed Championship Show

Arthur and others who are not able to see the bottom half of the map :-

Try to clear your cache by going to (browser) Tools, Internet Option, Clear all Temporary Internet Files. By doing so, you may be able to view the latest page and your browser will not pull the page out from your cache memory.

If you are still unable to view, let me know, I will post again using another filename.

Re: [Khoobg] 196th MKA All Breed Championship Show

Sorry, Khoo and Arthur, but just a couple more q's:

- If you bring more dogs than handlers, where do the dogs not being shown at the time stay? (i.e if you ahve 2 dogs, say, and you ahve to show 1 in 1 class, where do you leave your other dog, or do you bring your "crew" to help out?)

- Does it work like if you win Best in Category, then you go on to compete for the Best in Show title? DOes this involve the whole thing again, standing for the judge, trotting, etc?

- And are there only Best in Category, or are there also Best in Breed classes?

Thanks sooo much Smile

Ans: If the other dog is not showing, then it will be left outside the staging area with friends. If it is being judged as well eg. one dog and one bitch in the same breed then it will be left with another handler in the staging area.

Qry: Does it work like if you win Best in Category, then you go on to compete for the Best in Show title? DOes this involve the whole thing again, standing for the judge, trotting, etc?
Ans: Yes. You are required to show your dog all over again.

Qry: And are there only Best in Category, or are there also Best in Breed classes?
Ans: Both. Each category will have a 1st & 2nd place(depending on the number of entries). You'll also have the Best of Breed award and Reserve Best of Breed award. In addition, what everyone wants is the Dog and Bitch Challenge Certs(12championship pts) or the next best thing, the Reserve Challenge Certs (4 championship pts).

Re: [arthur] 196th MKA All Breed Championship Show

To get a Challenge Cert, do you need to get just Best in Breed, or does it have to be best in category?

Anyway, really great to hear they have breed competitions, coz can't imagine having to compete against so many other breeds at first go!

Thanks a lot for your help.

Re: [luckey] 196th MKA All Breed Championship Show

To qualify for the CC, you have to be awarded 1st in at least one of the categories that you have entered. Say, you entered Luckey for Puppy and Maiden category. Luckey wins her puppy category. She now can compete for the ECS bitch CC. Usually the Best of Breed is either one of the 2 CC winners ie, it could be the dog CC winner or bitch CC winner.

For further info on dog shows in M'sia, why not visit the site at and click on the "Dogshows" link under "Activities" at the sidebar? It explains the whole process much better than my amateurish attempts.

Re: [ricky] 196th MKA All Breed Championship Show

Hi Ricky,

Have never shown before, but thinking of starting with my new pup Luckey. Someone on this forum said that minor puppy here is 3 - 6 months; I read in books that in the USA minor puppy class is for 6-9 months pups... can you confirm which it is in Malaysia?

Also, do you know anywhere conducting ring training classes for aspiring show dogs?

Thanks :)
