Well, the microchip is to actually identify the owner of the dog..doesn't matter if its pure breed or not. But for pure breeds, if they're registered I think it's compulsory. So it's really up to you... IMHO, i think it's a good idea..if your dog's lost and someone brought him to the vet/someone who has the device to check microchips..just check his microchip and they can contact you. ,-._,-. \/)"(\/ (_o_)

Hi, As far as i know, we do not have the datbase thingy yet....what we can do with the microchipped no is taht we can check with MKA for the details but that too not really efficient coz if the new owner did not sign the transfer form then nothing much can be done n locatin the new owner is not a easy task U knowlahh...we live in M'sia where got so advance...even the scanner also not many ppl in PG has...what comes out from the scanner is the country code n number..that's all
