Birth Cert for imported Golden Retriever Puppy

Dear all,
I went for labrador and golden puppies hunting and I found quite a few Golden but no labrador. Unsure
I came across this cute Golden Retriever puppy that the seller claimed it was imported from Thailand. He said it's an American breed.
I wonder if an imported puppy should have its birthcert once it was imported? Cuz I was told my the seller that the birthcert will not be available until several months later.. is it nomal? is it the way supposed to be?
He said he will hv to apply something from MKA and ahve hv them approved then only he could issue something and also the microchip that will be injected to the puppy for recogniction.

Can anyone advise me on this?

Re: [laurentia] Birth Cert for imported Golden Retriever Puppy

Hi,

Yes, it's a normal procedure to wait 3 - 4 months (maximum) to get the cert from MKA. As for me, my GR born on Feb 2003 and i bought on April 2003 only on end of July 2003 I received the cert! But b careful if after 3/4 months you still haven't received it then you call-up the and check it.

And in the cert is written the the puppy, dam & sire & grand grand from where came from.

Re: [aweric2000] Birth Cert for imported Golden Retriever Puppy

Hi Aweric,

Thanks a lot for your reply. May I know where did u get your GR? If it's imported, were u provided some sort of documentation or proof by the kennel before you bought your GR or before the birthcert application? SO that u r more convinced with breed background.

It's really something i'm not familiar with. Actually I put the deposit down on the puppy already.. am now worried if I should pursue getting the puppy...

Re: [nooning] Birth Cert for imported Golden Retriever Puppy

hi,

yeah, I put the deposit down.. i was so kiasu.. I went with my brother and another 2 sisters. We are not experienced in those pure breed dogs. We used to have 2 german sheperd out of 14 dogs that we had and the rest of the dogs are all abandoned street dogs. therefore, I'd say we are not experienced in pure breeds and also in dealing with petshops people.

Hmm,I'm considering to have a look in KL, but it can be quite a hassle to go one place to the otehr since i'm not familiar with KL. But I saw many ads on Staronline... very tempting.. maybe i can use my deposit to buy the dog food from the guy.

Re: [laurentia] Birth Cert for imported Golden Retriever Puppy

hi laurentia,

Thailand is famous for breeding good quality dogs. so i think, no worries there. but of course u have to do a through check that the puppy the guy is trying to sell u is a healthy one.

FYI, what he meant "American Breed" is that the golden that you're about to purchase is the US type, which has a very beautiful darker brown coat color (like the one in Terry's or Mack Mack's avatar - - Terry : is ur Billy US type ar????)

< - - - - - - - -mine is the UK kind....

which is light cream color with shades of brown (and often costs cheaper *i think*).

how much is the petshop owner selling the GR to you? btw, it is definitely normal to receive the birth cert couple of months later. happened to me last time too.

Re: [hunter] Birth Cert for imported Golden Retriever Puppy

Hi hunter,
I am so glad to hear that. I actually like your GR a lot, not too furry, just moderately nice. And it has nice skull shape. The seller said it's the US type.. bigger in size but the fur color is lighter though, not like , maybe in between your GR's color and Terry's.
what abt urself? Where did u get your GR?
I heard from the sellers tht, darker color is now the trend therefore they sell higher price.

Re: [laurentia] Birth Cert for imported Golden Retriever Puppy

hi,

haha, my dog's skull shape is okay only.. he's head is just... how to say...FLAT. and if u see him in "dog" he is actually a little smaller size than normal GRs. i notice that most UK type GRs we have in malaysia have short hair (u know, not the curly long kind we often saw like those US GRs).. mine has only long hair at his chest and a little feathering at his feet.. as for his body hair, it could never grow long like those at his chest :/ his vet said it's all about genes.

this is my first dog, and i got him from a petshop eagerly without studying the breed standard and etc carefully first. i'm really lucky that he's a healthy pup today. i strongly advise that u study throughly the GR puppy u deposited on too, make sure he's healthy and all.

darker color GRs are also hard to get. oh, and i just love the rich dark gold color.

Re: [hunter] Birth Cert for imported Golden Retriever Puppy

US GR suppose to be in darker color, many are reddish golden. And the coat should not be "curly" and the skull must be BIG enough for good quality GR.

that's why they're so, so beautiful.

u mean not curly? but some of 'em have curly coats.. so u mean they supposed to have straight bulu?

btw, think those really really dark dark brown is sometimes not favourable in breed standard (am not sure how dark though)

I bought Billy "De Duck" from a Subang 19 petshop (not USJ 19 in my earlier post - very bad with direction & address lah) - owner of shop is a lady call Susan (quite well known it seems).

He is a US type so ...consequence is .... HE IS SO BIGGGGGGGGGG NOW.

Hahahahaha ... but I love him the way he is.

He has a beautiful coat. His coat is very nice when I bought him but the Cod Liver he takes everyday makes it even better.

Oh Laurentia .... if you are interested in US type GR from Thailand, I can introduce you to where I got Billy. The only problem is I still have not got the cert as the microchip and the cert and to be sent at the same time to avoid any mistake between the chip no and the no on the cert.

Re: [hunter] Birth Cert for imported Golden Retriever Puppy

Billy keeps biting my hand and fingers .... not hard by his judgement but still painful for me. Couldn't seem to stop him ... tried scolding (he just barks back at me when I scold him ... like scold me back) and when I rotan him ... he would bark at me and run away (hoping that I cannot reach him with my rotan).

He behaves perfectly with my friend - the co owner. When she wants him to sit he sits. When wants him to lie down he lies down. When she ask him to stop he stops. What am I doing wrong ?

Re: [Terry] Birth Cert for imported Golden Retriever Puppy

Behavioral problems.

well~ Billy just needs more attention from you. When he did things wrong and you scold & rotan him, that's "attention" to him according to dogs' dictionary.Wink What have you did wrong?? i think you gave him the wrong way of attention, and didn't give him enough the right way of attention: TIME & PATIENT.

Billy is growin' as a teenager now, not surprising to be a little rebelious :)

he knows that u can't control him so he's naughty to u. hmm. for the biting part, i'd suggest u smack his mouth (not too hard) when he bites ur fingers - timing is very important! soon he'll get the idea biting fingers is not fun anymore.

I think Billy doesnt see you as the Alpha. You gotta be strict when u train him, but balanced with play at the right time.

Of course if he see u n the rotan he run lah... i oso run lorr.. heeheee.. if u have to cane him, dont let him be able to police n thief with u la.. i'd hold my dog with their choke chain n spank them screaming Nos until they get my point. Now if they see me angry with rotan they know they did wrong n stay put with head tilted like say "sorry.. dont spank me laahhhh".....

Enjoy him when he is small - take lots of pictures (my regret for not doing so) coz they grow really really quickly. Keep an eye on him if he has a running nose. If it does not go away go to the vet quickly.

Billy does not think I'm his Alpha Frown. Anyway, you can see pictures of Billy in the picture gallery - it has just been approved (hot from the oven).

Re: [sweesan] Birth Cert for imported Golden Retriever Puppy

hi

if the man already told you that there's no cert before you buy the puppy, i don't suppose you'll be able to request one from him.. the reason being that the puppy's parents might not even have MKA cert, thus it's impossible to apply for one for the litter.

or there could be other reasons why a cert is not issued for this pup.

but really, the cert doesn't matter. i suppose it's just a piece of paper with family history of your puppy. Unless you intend to show your dog in confirmation shows in future it doesn't serve a lot of purpose for a regular pet owner.

Hi Wee Meng,

You need your ANKC pedigree transfer to your name, then you need your air-way bills. I remember your dog is from WYSIWYG, the breeder is Ms Anthea Mc Farland, she is a good friend of mine and she is waiting for a SHadow's daughter from me. If your ANKC pedigree has not been transfered to your name, the breeder in Australia will have to get it done for you first.

Re: [weemeng] Birth Cert for imported Golden Retriever Puppy

Ai'yo Boon,

You got the whole list...! This bitch use to belong to Lee Seng Chan, the bitch was brought in by OK Chan in Ipoh, Anthea got very mad when she found out about the whole deal, etc... This bitch is Ok, but very short upper arm, she is very low to the ground...Right or not Wee Meng.

If your friend wants to import from Aussie, first, get an import permit, you need a health cert to obtain an import permit, then remember to keep the air-way bills and most importantly, the ANKC pedigree must be transfer to the owner name, otherwise, M>K>A> would not entertain them... Even I, a sponsorship of M>K>A> shows and active member in it face penalty if my documents are not properly submitted, it shows M>K>A does not favour anyone except maybe 1 or 2...all and all, just get propoer documents and follow the procedure.

Upper arm and fore arm must measure 50-50 in ratio for GR. It is hard to explain to you about the anatomy, come to Champion and I will show you a better picture.

Re: [boon] Birth Cert for imported Golden Retriever Puppy

Serious Boon,

Watch out for the hips, these carries Gold Rush's. The breeder Ann J. was asked to leave GRCA because she does not clear majority of her dogs with OFA or Pennhip. Frankly, I do not like that sire, he is a horrible looking dog. Look at M.K.A. mag and look closely at his picture, everything about that dog is wrong!!...My humble opinion only!
