Arthur's Introduction

Hi there people!

It’s a pleasure to introduce myself to you fine folks here.

My name is Arthur Lee (My dad liked English Folklore…) Was born in the year of the Rat waaayy back in 1960 so that makes me 42 this year! Guess the young ones here will be calling me uncle! Smile

Started out as an Ipoh mali boy (in good old St.Michael Institution) before moving to KL in 1979. Have been working in the Aviation Industry in Subang Airport ever since. If you ever wanted to know which part of the plane is the safest to sit, ask me here..

My humble home is in the USJ area which is lovingly decorated by Sharon (my wife of 16years). Our lives has been enriched by 1…then 2… then 3 (yes three!) miniature schnauzers since Feb last year. Must be crazy to have 3 schnauzers running about.(Dunno what came over us!) We get live sense surround sound for 3 mins everytime a visitor comes to the house or rings the doorbell Crazy

Okay back to the intro.. I am a big fan of Star Trek. Everything Star Trek I try to collect.Enjoy reading military novels (Tom Clancy n gang), Sci-Fi books (James P.Hogan etc..) and once a while, the “Hard to digest” stuff like HyperString Theory (just to torture the grey matter!) Photography is my other love. Sometimes I combine them both in an outdoor shooting session with my gang of 3. Pure bliss when I can get them to look my way!

Most Sunday afternoons will find me and Sharon at the Padang Merbuk training grounds doing our obedience classes with the furkids. That is how I met our Webmaster and Joe Mike! BTW.. congrats to Joe on completing his Malaysian Championship title during the recent dog show in Ipoh.

Feels like home here in this forum with all you nice folks around…

Bye for now.

Re: [cdmoo] Arthur's Introduction

Hi there!

Thks for the welcome. Yup..the 60's were when the generation cry was Make Love Not War! Still, I kinda miss that era out. But then the 70's came and Bang! It was the disco era with Saturday night fever, bell bottoms and the mandatory 2 buttons undoned for the guys showing off their chest hair (or lack of it Wink)

I had a mixed breed dog then. Still remember the name. He was called Bruno. Short legged with a face like a corgi. Kinda wondered in to my house and adopted us. After a year or so, he just got up and left to move into another household further up the road. Sigh...

But now I have my Pepper (1.5 yr old Salt n Pepper female), Lee Sha (1 yr old Salt N Pepper female) and my naughty boy Lee Ron ( 8mths Black n Silver Male) to keep me company. But that another story..

See ya..

Re: [Khoobg] Arthur's Introduction

Greetings Webmaster!

Thks for the comments. It's mainly Pepper doing most of the work. Now that Joe Mike has completed his championship title, why don't you join us in the Novice class? There's less than 10 of us under Amanda our trainer. (BTW, she's very strict and really push both the handlers and their doggies to do their best. Better do our homework man..) Joe should be okay this time cos' we got the best spot on the padang. Yup! Right underneath the shade all the time! At least this time Joe wont be overheated too much.

Pepper being black in colour suffered more during the last training we have together. Remember our water spray bottles? That was fun!

See U this Sunday?

Yes, going down memory lane takes me back to the era of cassette tapes, 8 track cartridges (still remember them?), record players 45rpm and 33 1/3 rpm, A go-go dance craze and mini-skirts! Yeah Baby!Wink

Seeing cinema shows then cost only RM1.40 for circle seats, RM1.00 for 1st class, & 80c for the neck breaker seats ( about 15ft away from the screen). Nowadays it cost RM9 and above right?

Back to the present, is that a picture of Rex under your user id? Handsome fella!

Hi Les,

Yes you're right. M.Schnauzers have gone up in price recently. Dunno why. But money aside, like most other breeds, they are generally intelligent, response great to obedience/agility training, doesn't shed much (in fact, I think I lose more hair then them LOL!) and when properly groomed, are amongst the smartest looking dogs in the world..(coming from me would be a little bit biased of course! Wink)

ha! u missed out the B/W TV! Wink. Talking about the cinemas... I thought it's 0.40cts for the front seat ? Wasn'it? I'm fron KL, and I used to watch the movies in the "B.B Park" .. now the Sungei Wang area. I still remembered my grandma was so engrossed in watching the movie, I ought to pee along the corridor .. Cd Moo,,

Waahh..at the cinemas you so young already so terror-lah! Sly

Yes, I forgot about the b/w tv. Guess we take a lot of things for granted nowadays. One of my fervent wishes growing up was to own a "Chopper" bike. Compared to the BMXs n mountain bikes, I guess it's no big deal. Later on I wished for a Honda Cub motorbike. That's when you can seriously date the girls then. I guess today the young men have to have a Kancil/Kelissa at least right? Wink

So Rex loves to fetch huh? He'll fit right in to my Lee Sha girl. She's my other Mini-Schnauzer girl who simply LOVEs to fetch especially those IKEA toys we bought for her. I have a feeling these 2 friends would get along fine..

IKEA toys? Sounds expensive..
Rex's favorite toy is the flying ring. (got it from Toy'sR-Rus). Fetching/retrieving is part of his routine exercise. U know lah, Labby can be become fatty easily. Must tire them, else can be destructive Wink

CD Moo and Les,

U guys are always welcome to drop by and watch the obedience training at Padang Merbuk. It'll be nice to put a face to the names!Smile Plus it's a great oppurtunity to socalise our doggies friends.

I remember it was pretty embrassing for me the first time I took Pepper to the padang. For 15mins, we were the "center" of attraction cos's she was barking away busy saying hello to all the other doggies there. Blush

It's not too bad now thank goodness!

See U chaps next Sunday? Look for the guy with wearing a black Levis baseball cap and a dark salt n pepper Miniature Schnauzer! We train underneath the tree (in the shade) next to the shelter where the attendance register is located.

You were there? I was there also! The rush hour would be round 5pm. That's when the 4-5 session is just finishing and the 5-6 session is about to begin. Car park also got problem then.Crazy

Yesterday weather was just perfect! In fact after my 4-5pm session ended, we ended up with an impromtu gathering of fellow MiniSchnauzer owners on the padang. Everyone sat round with their doggies and swap stories/advice. Later on, some other Shitzu owners also joined in as well. It was fun!Sly

Les, why dont U n your gang join us next Sunday after 5pm?

Dear Joonkeat,

If your schnauzer is called "Ray" then YES! we have already met!

The lady with the shih tsu called "Brownie" is Berverly who is my wife's friend. Let me see if I can still recall all the names of the schnauzers gathered last evening.. Starting from me we have "Pepper", "Lee Sha" and "Lee Ron". Then Joonkeat with "Ray", Andy with "Harvey", Voon with "Teddy" and one more female schnauzer called "Nikki". Total: 7 schnauzers! Wo hoo!

I remember when we first started at the Padang it was only "Pepper" and one other male schnauzer there. Later on, he dropped out leaving only "Pepper" alone. Glad to see more of us now.

See U next Sunday then?

Hi Wmeng,

Happy holidays! Waahh..wish I can escape away for 2 weeks like you. I know one girl who took her schnauzer up and down Pennisula MalaysiaSmile

Will George be going along for the holidays as well?

As for dropping by at the Padang, anyone is welcome. No need to bring a dog along. Personally, I recommend folks that are still deciding which breed to adopt, to drop by the padang and see for themselves the different types of dogs. Most owners are friendly and wouldnt mind sharing some tips or pointers about their breeds.

Anyway, have a good time on your holidays..

Hello Melanie,

The answer to your question rdging mix breed pup for training is a definite YES!Smile

To enrol in the training classes, you'll need to be a MKA member. Pay your membership fees and put your name down for the next training courses (begining in Sep/Oct I think). Easiest thing to do is to visit the website at http://www.mka.org.my Most of the information U need to know about obedience training can be found there.

Besides training and bonding with our canine buddies, one can also expand one's circle of friends! I know mine has especially with fellow dog owners!

No, I don't bring George along this time but maybe next time. I am going back to Sabah (my hometown). If I were to bring him back, then he would have to travel by plane. Don't really know how to go about getting a doggy on a plane. Anyone??

I will leave him with my dad in-law. My dad in-law has a 3 yo mini pin (male) named Lucky. Both Lucky and Georgie get along very well. **sigh of relief** I will surely miss him more than I miss my another half. LaughSlyTongue

Hi Wmeng,

Wah..don't let your better half read this..that you'll miss George more than you'll miss her!Sly

Travelling by air with live animals in Msia is possible but I don't think George would be allowed in the passenger cabin. Most likely he'll be in a special crate located down in aft cargo compartment. That compartment is heated and is suitable for livestock. Airlines have transported live chicks that way. Most made it thru the journey.

There's also the issue of quarantine for live animals from Pennisula Msia. All in all, I can see yr reason for not bringing George along this trip.

Enjoy yr vacation!

Re: [jason] Arthur's Introduction

Hi Jason,

You're welcome to join us! Since you're from Klang I reckon the easiest way is to use the Federal Highway heading towards KL. Exit the highway at the Jalan 222 flyover and turn right under the flyover and head towards Assunta Hospital rounabout. Cut aross the roundabout (12 o'clock) and follow the road till you come to another roundabout. You are now within sight of the Padang Merbuk. Take a left at the roundabout and immediately keep right cos' you'll be making a right turn at the 1st junction you see. Make the right turn, go to the stop sign and make another right turn. Follow the road which now slope downwards and at the shops, turn right to park your car at the open space. And that's it! You're at the padang merbuk. Best time to come is round 4.30pm. That way you can see the training classes in progress and still can find parking space!

Oh yes, there's some Boxers around but not many. You'll see a lot of GSD, Rotties, Labs, Golden Retreviers, Shih Tsus and now slowly building up..Mininature Schnauzers! Sly

Re: [arthur] Arthur's Introduction

A simpler description is as follow :-

If you are travelling from Klang along Federal Highway, take the Jalan 222 Exit road and turn right into Jalan Templer.

As you travel along Jalan Templer straight all the way, you will pass by the first Roundabout, then the 2nd one and Padang Merbok is just on your left if you pass the third roundabout straigth (you should not go straight :-) ). You must turn left when you reach the 3rd roundabout to get into Padang Merbok.

Cheers

Hi Les!

Glad to have finally met you and Sunny in person! I was surprised to find Les was actually a girl! <sheepish grin on face> Anyway, Sunny is very cute and handsome. It was a hot and sunny Sunday evening yesterday. Running Pepper thru the agility course did not help at all!

Have a great week ahead!

Hi CDMoo,

Yup! That was me with my Pepper girl. Wink

I noticed a few labs around but not sure which one was Rex!Crazy

Wished you could have stayed longer with Rex. Would be nice to put a face to the name. Bumped into Les and her Sunny though! Maybe next time, huh? Last Sunday was kinda hot. Both of us worked up a sweat after running thru the agility course several times. It was fun though..sometime different than the usual obediance training.

HI Arthur

You did agility with your dog? What kind of obstacles did they build for you guys to tackle? I'd love to do that with Luckey... she's a tad young still but jumping is in her blood. Have you met any cockers in the agility training?

Re: [whitwhit] Hope To jpin with U

Whitney,
Do come and join us this Sunday. We'll be there from 4pm onwards. Our training starts from 4-5pm and afterwards we normally hang around and socialise the furkids. So after 5pm will be a good time to drop by with Phoebe. BTW, bring Phoebe along ONLY if she has got her 3rd jab otherwise it'll be a bit risky with so many other doggies around.

Re: [arthur] Miniature schnauzer

Hello Arthur, nice to meet u here. My name is Connie and i'm a owner of a miniature schnauzer and silky terrier. I just bought my schnauzer 2 weeks ago in pet expo, she is 15 weeks old now. hmm... maybe u will curious why suddenly i will write to you, just because of one the member mentioned that you are the Miniature schnauzer experts. So hehehehe... u understand lahhhh.

first question i want to ask you is, do i need to plug the ear's hair? My schnauzer always scratch her ears, i check her ear's, seems is nothing, no fleas, no ear mites symptoms, i ask the breeder, breeder say is because of the ear's hair too long, have to plug it. So i go to check this info from the book(miniature schnauzer guide book), it doesn't say so. So i should follow the book or the breeder?

second question is my dog eat extremely fast, less than one minute, she can finish her meal just look like haven't eaten for 5 days. is it okay ?

i knew that you got 3 schnauzer, do your schnauzer fights with each others? Currently i facing this problem, 2 of this naughty gal fights everday, how to stop them? My friend told me that they will continue fight until one of them is surrender. Shall i separate them in different cage or just put them together? please advice. Ur info will help me alot, thanks.

~~cheers~~

Re: [kitconnie78] Miniature schnauzer

Hi Connie,
For MS ears, your breeder is correct. MS ears are normally plucked clean to be devoid of hairs. There is a thread under dog grooming on this subject. Some good info there...
As for eating fast..most MS are like vacuum cleaners. Mine also woof down their food in less than 2 minutes! And will look at you for more. They are Schnauzers after all :)!
I understand you have a silky who is also female.. Well these 2 girls will have to sort it out as to who will be the dominant female. You can let them mix together but always under supervision. Normally they will sort it out among themselves and peace will reign back in your household but in some cases, both of them are equally dominant..that will be another story.

Re: [arthur] Miniature schnauzer

Hi Arthur & your 3 MS

Nice to meet u. Let me introduce myself first. I'm a new comer with a 8-months old MS. Heard that u r a expert. Thought it is nice to drop u a line to say hi & ask u some advise if u don't mind.

My Schnauzer Puffy used to eat very fast as u said like a vaccum cleaner. But recently she has begun to eat very slowly. (Initially we thought it's a good sign.) But she's eating less & less & sometimes refuses to eat. Is that anything wrong with her? Is it true that she's tired of the same brand dog food? Should I try to use another brand? Do u mind telling me what u feed your MS? Thanks.
Best Regards,

Christie ^_^
