Re: [kanch] HELP AUSTRALIA SHIHTZU ??!!!

Hi, Just to make the standard clearer. In both Australia and Taiwan, there are big and small Shih Tzus. Taiwan does have big shihtzus that they show.... In Australia, they do show smaller ones as well. The English or ANKC standard calls for "not more than 10 1/2 inches height at withers" for their Shih Tzus. On the other hand, the AKC standard says an ideal shih tzu should be about 9-10 1/2 inches height at withers. And they strengthen a point that the Shih tzu should not be lesser than 8 inches or more than 11 inches. So 8-11 inches and that could varies very differently in size and all are still within the size of the Shih Tzu. The ANKC standard says overall balance is more important than size alone. And if two dogs (a big and a small) are of equal merit, its up to the judge to decide which is the correct one..... Unlike the Chihuahua standard... when two dogs (small and big) of equal merits, smaller should be given priority. Mackay
